  • Sony vs North Korea - The US "didn't" cut off all Internet access in North Korea

So obviously everyone knows about the whole Sony thing ...

If you don't, go here for a complete, complex breakdown of the entire situation.

Obama then later went on to say that the US would retaliate against North Korea, after the FBI concluded they were indeed behind the hacking.

And now... North Korea is basically without Internet access, and the US government is declining to comment .. so awesome.

    Yahoo News wrote:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- North Korea experienced sweeping and progressively worse Internet outages extending into Monday, with one computer expert saying the country's online access is "totally down." The White House and the State Department declined to say whether the U.S. government was responsible.

President Barack Obama said Friday the U.S. government expected to respond to the hacking of Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., which he described as an expensive act of "cyber vandalism" that he blamed on North Korea. Obama did not say how the U.S. might respond, and it was not immediately clear if the Internet connectivity problems represented the retribution. The U.S. government regards its offensive cyber operations as highly classified.

"We aren't going to discuss, you know, publicly operational details about the possible response options or comment on those kind of reports in anyway except to say that as we implement our responses, some will be seen, some may not be seen," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said.

Did they actually produce evidence showing it was North Korea or is this another one of those 911 deals where we just have to trust them for now?

Sorry but Obama doesn't F'around, like you said. He lies and bends everything almost up to the breaking point to impose his ideology and objectives on the world. We know this, he tap dances around from scandal after scandal. Here now is a dramatic reenactment of when the fast and furious scandal leaked:

They have. The problem with Hackers these days is they are generally quite proficient at covering their tracks.
Regardless, they talk about it here: http://www.scmp.com/news/world/artic...ng-obama-warns

At the same time, I'm not sure why you feel you need to "trust" them on this .. they're not even saying they did it.
And why anyone would have a problem with fucking with North Korea, I have no idea. Not like the average citizen even has Internet Access.

Wasn't looking to really open an Obama Debate, but you speak as if Every US President before him hasn't done the exact same thing...

          1. Morality shouldn't be conditional. Massive numbers of people tend to be executed where that takes root.
          2. I'm not defending North Korea, where do I do that?

As I understand it N Korea essentially is hard wired to/from China re a plug in into the ww internet. So, China either independently or gave the US access to the pipeline to derail their capability. That said very few people in NK really have access.

Re Obama....he has finally begun the process to end the idiotic impasse of official relations between the US & Cuba. People conveniently forget that criminal elements from the US (Mafia)helped corrupt the dictatorship (Batista) in Cuba leading to the Castro revolution and what followed...no different by much the assasination/overthrow of democratically elected Mossadegh by the CIA in Iran in the '50s and of course what followed thereafter. That there are many who oppose Obama's attempts to take another path is boggling. As far as I am concerned he hasnt done enough and in some cases been wrong.

I thought I'd try and rebut that with a small paragraph.

I don't know how you can rebut it because what I said was true. Bypassing congress to launch wars is illegal. Fast & Furious was illegal. Lieing to Americans about the health care model he put through was fraud and illegal. Amnesty to illegal aliens is illegal. NSA snooping is illegal. He has more scandals than I can keep track of. He's by all measures now a dictator; he does what he wants and if congress and the senate oppose him he signs it into action without resistance. They went after Clinton over a bj, I don't get what's happened in the past twenty years.

Yeah, the Cuba thing was logical and it makes sense because he's a big government socialist. He and Castro have a lot in common, they could become really good friends.

No, I prefer not to watch news unless it's local actually.

I do read a lot. This is how I get my world news. You're not going to get the facts and be able to formulate an educated opinion unless you pick around.

Canada seems to have a great relationship with Cuba (actually helped with this rapproachment I hear). As I noted, Castro was a manifestation of what a brutal and corrupt dictatorship abetted by Mafia criminal elements from the US who ran the casinos and other rackets there wrought on the Cuban people. The alternative to what he saw as criminal capitalism was socialism and his benefactor in the greater geopolitical tussle of ideologies was communist Soviet Union. Context is a good thing as is understanding what Cuba's problems were at the time. They had no place to go and they chose revolution.

RE Obama the individual and president, we have gone this road before. You seem to see a nefarious person bent on destruction of the American system. I see someone who is trying to swing the pendulum of governance to a more equitable balance from what seems to be unfettered capitalistic tendencies of the entrenched financial powers. In any case I had previously addressed some if not all of your concerns above in a previous post in another thread a couple of months ago (you did not reply). I shall link it below if you wish to read/address ...post #244:
