Yeah I just responded to a post mentioning JV. Sticking with the theme of this thread, given how the team is currently constructed I do think we could have a primarily defensive and rebounding 4. Points and even shot blocking being gravy. Lowry and DD are going to be our primary scorers. I have heard them talk about he-who-shouldn't-be-mentioned being the 3rd option but I'm yet to see it. When Lou and Vazquez come in they seem to have the green light from everywhere too. Maybe just with how seldom the ball moves in this offence we never quite get the ball to the 3rd option regardless of who is on the floor. This team has plenty of scorers, not enough defenders or reboundera. And if they shared the ball more the established scorers might even be able to do so more efficiently.

Meantime, Biyombo is not a game changer defensively. He's decent, ranking about 10 spots ahead of JV in DRPM among C's.
But he really is brutal offensively - even with the offensive rebounds his ORPM was a very poor -2.7. Not Perkins-esque, but more than enough to offset his above average defence.
In any case, I'd be fine with a middling offer for him to backup JV. But to make him a primary target, or intended starter? Not on board.

MPG Comparison:
BB - 19.4
DJ - 34.4
TT - 26.8
Bismack shoots 65.7% from 0-3 feet
DeAndre shoots 73.9% from 0-3 feet
Thompson shoots 65.1% from 0-3 feet
73.7% of BB's 2.8 FGA's are from 0-3 feet
91.8% of DJ's 6.5 FGA's are from 0-3 feet
66.4% of TT's 6.0 FGA's are from 0-3 feet
BB makes 1.4 FG from 0-3 feet
DJ makes 4.4 FG from 0-3 feet
TT makes 2.6 FG from 0-3 feet
BB pulls down pretty much the same amount of offensive boards per minute as TT (0.1289 to 0.1231), less than DJ (0.1395) but takes way less FGA. This is because BB gets stripped of the ball way more often so the O-Reb goes to waste.
BB's Tov%: 16.5%
DJ's Tov%: 12.8%
TT's Tov%: 12.2%
If Bismack ever learns to hold onto the ball he'll be able to be as good as Thompson, but he'll never ever reach DJ level.
TT seems to be getting a bit overhyped, not just on this board, but even the playoff commentators are saying he could be a max player? C'mon. The power of playoff exposure and playing with Lebron.

Interesting. He's probably gonna come much cheaper than TT. But can he play the 4? And if Casey's coming back, I think he's just gonna be another Steamer or Bebe rotting on the bench as Casey will stick with that bullshit lineup playing 4 guards and 1 stretch PF.

No I'm not proving your point of BB having even a comparative amount of offensive skill to DJ, TT or Allen in any way.
I said BB gets as many offensive rebounds per minute as TT. That doesn't mean he's on par rebounding wise.
Chr1s1anL wrote: View PostTT will never be a shot blocker like BB is.
Chr1s1anL wrote: View PostAlso Deandre Jordan wasn't DJ when he was 22 as well.

Obviously BB is a better shot blocker, but how in the world that relates in any way to BB having offensive skills is beyond me.
Yes, believe it or not, DeAndre Jodran was still DJ (DeAndre Jordan, in case you don't comprehend) at 22. He's been DeAndre Jordan his whole life.
Get ready to be disappointed.
Never said I wanted TT, only used him as a comparison because someone else mentioned him. He is overhyped, but definitely better that Ed Davis.@Chr1st1anL

His only been dominant for two years now. If you compare his numbers before Doc their pretty close to DJ even though he played more minutes than BB.

If JV's development is slow, what the hell do you call Jordan's development? And if you're going to argue Jordan wasn't under a good coach, well I mean...
On top of that, BB has played 4 years in the NBA now, and he's never shown the passing, finishing, shooting that Jonas can probably do in one game. You're going to have patience with him? Over JV? That's hilariously hypocritical isn't it?Last edited by Mindlessness; Sun May 10, 2015, 10:30 PM.

i've said in many posts for the off season that Biyombo the ideal/type of target Masai will go for to address the back up 5...active rim protector and defender with elite rebounding skills and he's only 22, has a connection to Ujiri through a lot of NBA Africa stuff and won't require a lot to sign so Masai can address SF and PF and stay flexible for 2016. Biyombo to Toronto is a pretty safe bet. 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in just 19.1 minutes per game is solid.Last edited by RepTdot; Sun May 10, 2015, 10:16 PM.

On top of all the rest, I think Masai already has his backup C in BeBe, just doesn't have a coach who will use him.

How did this end up becoming a jordan vs. Jv debate...
Regarding the op. I wouldn't try and get biyombo. We already have a young backup centre, don't need another that will probably get overpaid just to be here.
I'd rather ed Davis coming back. He'd be cheap tooI'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson
