It's not cool here. But there's tons to do. Lots of sub-cultures. A lot of mainstream entertainment...

New York is cool. It's a lot easier to put on something unique if you're a promoter for instance. But, if Toronto teams are managed well, and opportunities for young people to be entertained in their off time are maintained, this is a far more comfortable place to live than Detroit (which has its struggles), or OKC (basically a small town in comparison).

Also, because of the diverse cultures here fans get it. They're not too cool to cheer, or support their team -- whether that's sports or a rapper.

what does that even mean? new york isnt any different from toronto in terms of event promotion. if anything the saturation in NYC makes it way harder.

To a certain extent. But try putting on something cool that no one's ever done here versus NY, or SF, or MTL. Eventually, you can pull it off, but what takes months to do here takes weeks to do there.

Pitch your idea to a gallery, or, a promoter and you're done in those spots. Here you also have to show the venues diagrams and pay people money who are making money off your guests... The promoter who helps you out gets bullied by the venue, so you're hiding half the door money in your pocket... The gallery wants you to become a member even though you just want to do one show... stupidness.

Id like to know what bizarre unique cool events you're talking about. Ive done tons of events back in the day and some my friends are the biggest promoters in town and across the US including NY.

I've never heard of any event that takes weeks to set up in ny versus months in Toronto. That doesn't even make any sense. Either you're trying to book things in the completely wrong venues or you've done a few events that have gone awry that somehow lead you to believe it's like that in the whole city. Well its not.
