In a somewhat related topic, what are people's views about modifying the trade of future draft picks rule? It was a new feature we added last year and we decided to cap it at 2 years out. After seeing it done for a year, I think it would be better for the league to cap it to 1 year out, to prevent teams from Brooklyn Netting themselves from assets. It still gives an additional asset for trading (future pick) but limits the damage that can be done. So in essence, we would be saying that only 2017 and 2018 picks are in play for this year. Since 2019 picks haven't been in play yet, if we make this modification now it won't impact anyone's current draft stash. Thoughts?

Axel wrote: View PostI think Tucas's comment was regarding the redraft of mcHappy/Snooch, since neither team owns future picks and Miek owns both of Snoochie picks moving forward. Dan and I own mcHappy picks, so we would theoretically benefit from such a maneuver but Miek would get hit if we are able to balance Snooch's team from awful to ok.
I'm not leaning in favour of one or the other, just trying to understand the implications that I may be missing.

If you rank the best players from each team, I think you'll find that there are more mcHappy players than Snooch players drafted at the top.
Paul and Gobert from Snooch vs curry, Westbrook, Klay, Vucevic, Giannis from mcHappy.
Suddenly that pick from Snooch becomes less valuable to Miek than originally planned. The opposite is true for the future picks than Dan and I own.Heir, Prince of Cambridge

I slightly more fair way to do this and still allow a somewhat more balanced team is to allow each player to protect 2 or 3 players from each other and then allow them to mini draft the rest of the roster (inheriting cap hits obviously).Heir, Prince of Cambridge

I would also consider having DPEs and expiring players exempt. McHappy has 5 while Snooch has 4.
So if we allow them to protect 3 each, plus the above, they are drafting 8 or 9 players each. Certainly seems a fair way to retain some pick value for MiekHeir, Prince of Cambridge

i'm still not a big of fan of redrafting the 2 teams .... but if thats the league consensus or admin decision I'm completely fine with it!
I like axels of idea of protecting 3 players each + DPEs and 1 year guys. so there will be some reshuffling to assure scraptors takeover owner doesnt get an unworkable team but is still a low end team while mchappys team remains good. this helps the draft picks traded for keep closer to the intended value that miek, wJF, danH, axel had traded for.in masai we trust
water covers 98% of the earth, Mitchell Robinson covers the other 2%

Ha, didn't remember I had mcHappy's pick. Makes me seem a wee bit biased here.
I do like the expansion draft idea but I definitely understand the draft pick issue.

To Balance, or Not To Balance; That is the Question.
Alright, so to keep things "simple", and to hopefully try and get this resolved, can people weigh-in with a "In Favour" or "Not in Favour" of the balancing of these teams, assuming we have some mechanisms in place to allow each team to protect some assets.
As I said, I'm not really leaning one way or the other, but I think this is an opportunity to remedy something that a lot of people have raised as a concern, and that is the competitive balance of the league. I realize it would be unprecedented, and obviously isn't a "Real World" move .. but if people feel like it would benefit the league, then so be it.
I will hold off on my vote for now. I would also welcome input from the incoming Managers, in terms of what they think.Last edited by Joey; Mon Jun 27, 2016, 01:32 PM.
