Ok. The Clippers are 8th in the NBA in OffRtg. The Raps held them to 34 points in the first half. So, the Raptors deserve no credit for that cause Jamal Crawford hoisted up a bunch of shots and missed them?

Let's just be fair both ways. When Toronto loses and posters point out that they had injuries or a tough schedule or the other team was playing really good, then those are just all excuses. But whenever Toronto wins it's because the other missed shots or played bad or the Raps just got lucky.

Yeah, if the Clippers had made more shots they would have won. And it Toronto's PGs weren't 4/20 and just shot their career averages the Raptors would have scored a pile more points. We can play that game all day.
pretty sure no one is taking away that the Raps won, or even are de-valuing the win....merely pointing ouot that there were definite problems, and some glaring holes, that luckily never got filled in or else it would have been a certain loss.

And the concern is that this is not an outlier, but the norm....which with this team is far more an appropriate assumption

Raptors have the 5th best record in the league. Not bad for playing league high 11 road games out of your first 15.
Still using the record as proof?

its not even right, they are tied for 5th with Atlanta in the East, not in the league.

They are tied for 9th in the league........only .5 games up on OKC.....

Why are people so defensive over this team? Remember that win against OKC? That was a really good win. Raps played lockdown defense down the stretch.. posters here recognized this & commended the effort. When the Raps constantly leave guys open (problem since forever), posters recognize this. Stats say so, eye test says so. If we really want this team to be great, this issue (among others) needs to be addressed. Glossing over it as "not giving credit" is silly.

Doesn't matter if his post is accurate or not, using record as proof is foolish.

what does that have to do with anything I posted.

You were the one going on and on about JV not being a good center defensively etc and everyone else saying you were wrong and that JV was incredibly misused.....team changed the defense and stopped having JV defend the three point line and what do you know....huge improvements......

Problem is, that the defense has not replaced JVs three point defense with anyone else.

and: You have completely ignored my post showing washington having one of the top offenses last year, FAR superior to torontos, and the second best net rating......all of which went against your post that washington won in the playoffs because of their defense
Can you show me source for your stat on Washington? Wiz weren't scoring a lot of points. The reason why their offense looked so good was cause are defense was so bad last year. Makes sense a bad offensive team runs into a really bad defensive team. Somethings got to give.

Maybe. But who was shooting those threes? The Clips are only 31% for the year from three. Other than Redick and Johnson, no one shoots the three at a decent percentage. 14 of the threes came from Josh Smith (27%), Austin Rivers (26%), Jamal Crawford (28%) and Paul Pierce (27%). They were 0 for 14.

I know the Raps are the worst team ever and have the dumbest coaching staff in the history of everything but, maybe they were happy those guys were jacking threes? Maybe that was the plan? I know that the most negative spin must be put on everything around here but can you not even consider the possibility?

I just love how when the Raps win they get no credit and when they lose the other team gets no credit....
If the plan is to give up 28 wide open 3PA on 32 attempts, then the plan is stupid.

agreed, but the notion he is using flawed logic, then using it incorrectly is very smh worth.

Yes, cause its not easy to consistently win in this league. Look at teams like Pelicans, Rockets and Clippers as examples.

in playoffs improved dramatically as they run an offense that translates to playoffs. against atlanta their offense stayed clicking.
