on the other hand, neither ross or demar can guard big 3s, where carroll can. So as long as you're trying to win, you can't start ross.

I just feel like Cavs finally learned to do what kills the Raps: Trap the ballhandler on the pick and roll. Our "stars" have yet to make consistent effort to pass out of the trap when that happens. I'm surprised it took them this long to give that a try to be honest.
The positive is it should be pretty easy to prepare for busting the trap, ought to even get a few easy buckets out of it.

      At least we can hope...

The counter-argument there would be that we won a lot of games the last two years starting Ross.

        • Carroll barely played and we won a bunch of games.

          • This year, we went 7-3 when Ross started, and the losses were to Indiana, Charlotte and Golden State. All playoff teams.

Yes, Casey trusted JV because he had like three straight weeks of dominance, and finally, after three straight weeks of dominance, he decided to trust him more. There is practically no chance he decides to trust him when he hasn't played for weeks, let alone been dominating.
well thats just your opinion. Past data would've suggested in the regular season Casey didnt trust JV even when he was dominating, and Casey doesn't make adjustments, but that's really changed in the playoffs.

Could easily see JV being very involved offensively next game.

Or it could be like the Indiana series, where JV was dominating and still took less than 10 shots for several consecutive games.

Raps open as 6 points dogs.
They were 5 point underdogs game 3 and 6.5 game 4.

And all of those guys are much worse defenders than Ross.
                    Not sure Valentine is.

Denzel Valentine, Buddy Hield, Furkan Korkmaz all better shooters than Ross IMO. All in the draft range for the Raptors.
You're making a gamble there. All of those guys MIGHT be better shooters than Ross, because all the information we have is based on college 3s against college defenses, and any of those guys may be 1-2 years away from being nba rotation ready.

At the same time, Lowry's window is going to close soon, and we need a power forward as well.

                      • It's been a great playoff run but I think we are at the end. Though it would be nice to force a game 7 in the end I don't think the outcome will be any different. I expect tight game tomorrow with LeBron attacking and getting the calls come crunch time in the forth quarter.

That's the one adjustment I could see paying dividends.

They didn't lose by 40 points because CLE trapped some pick and rolls..... Any analysis of this game is futile. Raps never showed up.
Mentally Raps get down on themselves when behind early. Then the boots get put to their neck game over.

                            • Realistically, I can't see us reinventing our offense in two days to be pass oriented built around JV. That's just not going to happen.

Our best chance is simply that DeMar and Lowry hit shots. Look at our elimination game history in these playoffs. Their usage goes WAY up. That's what will happen tomorrow.

Hield and Valentine are two of the most NBA ready prooects in the draft. Also they both have ridiculous range.
