  • Breaking NEWS: Raptor Players in Casino till 2 A.M.

So today I am listening to ESPN 710 LA, Mason and John Ireland Show. They were reporting some of the Raptor players were at a Casino in Cleveland till 2:00 AM the night before the game !!! Casino is owned by Dan Gilbert ...

I find that very disturbing ... Does anyone else know anything about this ? Do we know which players were at the Casino ?

    It's an awful non-story.

I would be pissed if they were drinking, but they weren't + took security together. So it's all good. NBA players are night owls anyway.

This already made the rounds this morning. It was Joseph and Carroll. I agree it's not a good look but:

It was just shy of 2 am (players work nights, game was 8 pm the next day)

There was no evidence they were even drinking

The casino is actually attached to the hotel they were staying at

        All in all non story

I heard it this morning and I believe Steve Simmons the resident rabble rouser at the SUN reported it I believe. I am not sure of all the details but after a team dinner and watch of the OKC/GSW game the two may have visited the casino ( two blocks from the arena/hotel) and "were seen walking back". What time? Were they stumbling? Nothing story imo. The game was 8.30 the next night. Big deal. Everyone played shit.

I can see how it could be seen as unprofessional, especially this deep in the playoffs and after a game where focus was clearly the issue. Doesn't matter how much sleep you get if you break your regular sleeping schedule, you end up more tired and lethargic. It would be a real issue if the entire team didn't shit the bed and just these two. If they didn't break any team rules and Casey has no problem with it, which he will say publicly that he doesn't , I don't care. He might be giving them a talking to though, especially Carroll as one of the team vets on setting examples.

I dont give a shit if they were not drinking and if the game is at 8:30. Its the most important game of their life.

Not entirely sure about Carroll but Joseph has been on a championship team, coached by the best and mentored by the best. Carroll is a vet and I think both know their bodies. Unless anyone knows for sure what they did or didnt do at the casino I dont know there is much to say...other than the entire team played like crap....whether they went to the casino....or not.

Us keyboard warriors tend to get overly sanctimonious sometimes about individuals when the TEAM loses.

These are good guys. I think they care...if not for us ...definitely for their team mates. I dont believe they would ever let them down.

Of course itd be different if these guys had a checkered history with alcohol or drugs or night life, but they both passed the masai and Casey character test this summer to get signed, and came from the school of popovich, budenholzer and by extension carroll.

So no foul play. It does not hinder your game in 18 hours to drop a few bucks at a nearby casino before bed. They're millionaires. Maybe they dont like sitting and watching tv to kill time. Kyle was probably watching old nba games on espn classics in his room and demar was on FaceTime with his kid with the fugitive on tbs in the background. Hell jv probably pounded a few back in his room.

DeMar was apparently up til 4am watching Batman vs. Superman. And we're questioning Carroll and CoJo's judgement.

They're on a different schedule than us. Their work day probably starts around 3PM, being out at 2AM is not a problem.

They usually have morning shootaround or practice at 10 or 11, then 99% of players will have a nap before the game

Honestly I don't care and I don't wanna know. These are grown men and being out late into the morning is perfectly fine if they can handle that. Personally I can function on five hours sleep and can't typically sleep past seven or eight hours.

This is a big nothing, I mean where are the guns, drugs and women?
