Jonas another Raptors development success story - he went from being more of a pnr finisher to being veritably dominant on the low block. Next is going to come even better play-making, and it would be f---ing fantastic if Poeltl could make those same improvements in parallel.

Jonas is putting his game together on both ends not unlike the way that DeMar did with his offensive game - one methodical piece at a time.

If Jakob is the gym-rat I expect, he can do the same. He's arguably more of a "natural" than either of them, from the look of his skillset and ability to move his feet at age 20.
From everything I've read the kid lives in the gym.

    • Sounds like they wanted JV to be a great defender like Hibbert, which clearly means they wanted him to also look like Hibbert. On the money as usual boys.

That's what Bruno was for. We should hav drafted a power forward.

I do think that Jak moves better than Jonas. And if they're going be playable next to each other we'll need both moving at a high level. Both are in prime years to take their fitness to another level.
Where are minutes for Poetl coming from?

Won't know until a) summer transactions are done, and b) he gets a bit of a chance to show if he can even handle regular bench minutes or if he should just spend some time in the D-League.

Chances are the ECF Toronto Raptors don't want a rookie backing up JV this year and no one knows how many PF minutes Poeltl can play at this level, if any.

He'll split PF minutes with Patterson after cutting his teeth in the D-league (if Biz stays). How many minutes do you think a rookie "needs"?

Yeah, listen to this yesterday. He think he can guard 4s but, no much of a floor spacer. He also thinks Poeltl and JV are similar players.

                  • The defence on 4s is more important. And the ability to hit wide open jumpers is there IMO. No one thought Scola was a 3-point shooter either.

Scola has been a midrange killer for years though. I believe he can develop that jumper but, Scola isn't the right comparison.

All the coach said is that he's not going to be bombing 3s. But even Jason Thompson got to shoot a couple for us. (That better?)

Bombing 3s is overrated. When you have an efficient 7 footer and just tell him to stand around the arc seems a terrible waste. Ibaka, Anthony davis and cousins are 3 quick examples of guys who lost effectiveness when they wanted to start being stretchers

                          • Poeltl doesn't need to bomb 3s. Just make open ones and have the ability to make mid range jump shots at a decent rate.

If he can do that and defend PF's, we're set.
