Still, a number of people on RR have commented they'd like to see a trade exception come back, so if Woj is saying that's not what the Raps want, I thought people might be interested.

I don't like the way Woj worded it. Salary-clearing? If we wanted to clear salary, we'd just let him walk. The TPE is so we can try to get something of value from another team without losing our over-the-cap flexibility. Since we'd only want the TPE if the team we're directly dealing with has nothing to offer, it isn't exactly a bad thing.

Ya, that doesn't make much sense. Salary clearing would be getting rid of existing contracts. Bosh isn't an existing contract. Obviously the Raptors would like to get young talent, but the chance of finding enough young talent on a team to match Bosh's contract is pretty slim. It would most likely be a combination of a young player or two, a draft pick or two and a trade exception for the difference.

This is honestly the smartest thing anybody has ever said on here. Battier is a vet, a defensive specialist, modest, and a team player. From a defensive standpoint, I don't think you could get a better player to mold the Raps team around.
