Same here. I'm expecting him to play with a bit of an edge on his shoulder, which should really help the bench/raise his trade value
    Not this guy!

Oh man, just forgot about that. Although, he said he was misinterpreted, but the interviewer said he was really saying it.

Interesting, but anyways, I'm excited to see him play. Why?

Seriously even if he comes in and we go on a W streak and he is contributing I still want him gone, cause we all know Bargnani some nights he shows flshes of the unstoppable machine he should be the 60+ games of being the inept giant chucker we know him as.

#TadeBargnani but excited to see him come off the bench.

I was just thinking about the Calderon trade and how it could possibly mirror the current Bargnani trade front....

RR posters were divided on Calderon's value - some people thought he could be part of a deal to land a great player, while others thought he wouldn't return anything more than a 2nd round pick. I recall past threads that suggested trading him straight-up for Prince, but the majority of posters laughed at the idea and thought that Detroit would reject such a lop-sided deal. However, now we're hearing that Detroit had been after Calderon for a long time (according to Detroit's GM), with the price being Prince & Daye. I suppose that BC just didn't feel that it was an adequate return for Calderon and/or he didn't like Prince (either as a player or because of his contract).

This all got me thinking about Bargnani and what the market for him may actually be. For years, BC has told fans that he gets lots of calls about Bargnani, with no offers being to his satisfaction. Over the past 6-12 months, many posters have come to be believe that whatever market for Bargnani that may or may not have existed in the past, has surely dried up. If I've learned anything from the Calderon deal, it's that we fans really don't have any idea what the true value is for our beloved (or despised) Raptors players around the league.

I'm curious what the market truly is for Bargnani today and what offers have been (or could be) made to BC. Is BC desperate to find a taker, or is he simply looking for an even better deal? The next couple weeks could be quite intersting in Raptor-land!

A players value is determined by many factors - many of them are non-basketball related.

Trades often have other factors influencing it, money for example.

Also a players value depends on the team on the other end of the negotiation.

I was reading about Kenyon Martin and how if anyone wanted to pick him up, they would have done so when he was injured.

Bargnani most definitely has trade value, but it is very difficult for us to see what we can get back for him considering how much SUCK we've experienced as a result of his play.

It has to be said, in fairness. Bargnani was very good last night. It looks like he can fit in well with this group. That one extra scorer takes pressure off others. He needs to take a lot more of AA's minutes, but that's for another thread.

I only watched the first half and half of the third but I agree he played well. During that time other then losing track of Jeff Green for a wide open elbow jumper he was solid defensively and picked his spots offensively quite well. Not sure what happened in the 4th but I thought Casey should have put Dre on KG instead of Gray who was getting abused by him and not contributed anything positive for the team.

Bargnani being dealt for back up PG???? may not be the best source however so take it with a grain of salt...

    Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1
Spoke 2 guy unaffiliated w Raptors but has inside knowledge of management mindset. Says definitely trying 2 deal Bargnani. ? is, can they?
    Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1
Found it interesting TR r trying 2 get pure point back as part of package. Someone like Calderon who gets ball 2 people in position 2 score
    Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1
The potential trade indicates the partner of the TR being MT sending the 7 footer with a wing player for the veteran PG Ridnour.

Heres hoping the Wing is Anderon, and we can net Ridnour or Barera (likely Ridnour) and Pekovic or D Williams.

Sweet Jeebus!! If it winds up being Bargnani & Anderson for Ridnour and one of Williams/Roy/Barea, the RR Trade Forum might actually get one right! lol

just goes to show fans know a thing or 2 lol if BC reads these forums and makes moves based on what he sees. Whether it be Ridnour or Barea Id be happy with either both very talented Barera brings familiarity with the coaching staff though.

With a wing rotation of Gay/Williams and Fields/Ross, DeRozan becomes expendable to pickup a starting PF! But that's for another thread

Yup, but I think d will might play some more at the four. Luke ridnour is the main piece tho, we need that backup pg. Lou admundson is a cheap backup PF with an expiring contract so if he plays well we could resign him.

It could just be Ridnour & Williams, without Amundson (even if he is included, I don't expect him sticking around beyond this season, if he even lasts that long). Regardless, Amir would be the only decent true PF on the roster. Even with Gay, Williams and Acy spending some time at the PF spot, I can't see that being a viable long-term solution. Especially when Valanciunas (rookie) and Gray (small minute guy) are the only C on the roster. It just makes for a very thin front court.

I dont get why people are high on D Will but who knows he was a second overall pick maybe he just needs a chance and new place to show what he can do, the trade is for getting rid of Bargs and getting a PG that can help us out and hopefully not shoot us in the foot when we got a lead.

MT wants to get rid of D Will and they will part with Ridnour or Barera to do it, but D Will claims he is playing out of position all his career so he cant establish his game.
