  • Bosh: Colangelo's Comments Were "Unfortunate"

Eventhough he handled the criticism well, I do think Bosh did check himself out towards the end of the season. I mean, when doctors give you the "all clear" to play, but you feel otherwise, you can't help but wonder.

Bosh also addressed criticism from Toronto Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo, who hinted in comments after Bosh left Toronto that the power forward was distracted by free agency and didn't give his all last season.

Bosh said Colangelo's comments were "unfortunate," adding that the two have not spoken since.

"That's how he handled it ... All I can do is react and just stay grounded and stay humble and just keep doing what I'm doing," Bosh said. "It doesn't bother me because I know I've never quit at any point in my NBA career, in my lifetime, playing basketball."

i dont understand why people think bosh checked out...

he missed 7 games after the all start break with an ankle injury. ankle injuries are difficult to recover from and 7 games is on the short end.

he had games where he scored 42, 34, 28, 36, 28 after the all-star break.
    in march he averaged 22pts n 9rbds...

his production in march was 2 pts and 2 rbds less than his season average.

but games in march n april are significantly more defensive and teams usually tighten up.

also he was coming back from an injury.

how can we seriously say that bosh checked out...

this is just another BC trick to give BC a free pass.

I think he was looking out for his max contract and not the team's interests.

Most of the teams the raps played in March and April were gearing down for the lottery or resting players for the playoffs. Bosh deserves the criticism not just for his cowardly performance in the second half of the season, but for the lie he keeps perpetuating concerning his eventual free agency destination. That is the main reason I will boo him, I used to be indifferent about him as he is a paper mache champion and not worthy of the insults I will spew at him, but he keeps taking the rest of the world for idiots and for that I will get my pound of flesh.

EDIT: No insults please - Doc
Naw, he's just a blind fan aka fanatic- a person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause- in this case the Raptor's and/or BC). Folks should wish Bosh all the best and thank him for his 7 years in TO.

Plus if he was looking out for his own interest's above the team's who can really blame him given the opprotunity to play w/ Wade & LBJ- why risk further injury if you don't feel right no matter what team doctors may say- Bosh has to look out for himself 1st.

              what lie ?
that he was keeping his options open and hoping to work with the raps ?

isnt that exactly what he did?

did he ever even hint at re-signing here?

cowardly performance in the second half ? umm yea sure 22pts n 9 rbds in march and 24 n 9 in april is cowardly

Not sure if anyone else watched the circus in July but nothing about Bosh was grounded or humble. Over the top and egocentric, maybe, grounded and humble, definitely not.

Glad he is gone. Not a franchise player and not worth a max contract whether he stayed or not - end of discussion.

Bosh's game log for March and April. He scored above his season averages (28) against one playoff team (POR) and averaged only 20 points against the 7 other playoff teams. He put up big games against the Clippers (34) who were tanking, the Nets (36) historically bad and GS (42) who had a D league front court oh and he missed the game winning layup. He corralled less than 10 boards in 6 of 16 games and only grabbed more than 12 once. He turned the ball over 18 times in 3 games against the 3 worst teams in the league. He shot only 45% against the 8 playoff teams while only going to the line 49 times.

For a guy who is only as good as his stats I don't see how anyone can argue he wasn't performing at anywhere near the pre all star level and that he reverted back to shooting long range jumpers, staying away from the free throw line and only putting up points against the dregs of the league. I watched the games, the guy stop caring and his stats and the accompanying losses reflected that. So before you insult me and ignore reality, go back and actually read the box scores instead of inanely repeating the same stats like an FAQ wannabe.

he's getting booed as much as any other player on the heat.

not because he left though.. just cuz he's on the heat.

Would the league fine the Raps if they played this at halftime when the Heat comes here? I'm just wondering:

Colangelo is a clown. Why try and say or insinuate something that there is NO PROOF or evdience to support?

He made the Raps organization look petty and whiny and it looks worse as Bosh has taken the high road and not criticized or "implied" anything about High Collars at all and his lack of acquiring talent.

Colangelo never played a game in his life so to make the call that real players are faking injuries or checking out is ridiculous.

One minute Bosh is 'stat padding' (whatever that means, I still don't know) and the next he's not putting up good enough numbers? lol, hilarious.

I wish Bosh did stop playing a lot earlier so this teams slide into obscurity happened a lot sooner than it did.

Sleepz: Check yourself, Colangelo merely stated that Rupaul was cleared to play but chose not too...What does that say to you? As for his "checked out" comment, that was merely his opinion just like when Rupaul said that T.O "smelled different" and basically implied that living in Toronto was like living on another planet which was a classless and distasteful thing to say about the team and city that embraced him for 7 long years. As for Bosh taking the high road, is that a joke?...Is that what he was doing when he was tweeting like a teenage girl during the big Free Agency week while most Raptor fans were twisting in agony...Colangelo has been around NBA players long enough to know when they may have "checked out" on their team like Rupaul. As for his so called lack of acquiring talent, I guess you were the only one in Raptorland that could foresee Hedo imploding and that must make you special.
