Default NHL Fantasy Hockey Keeper League (Season 1 - Registration & Discussion)

    Hi All,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we will have a fantasy hockey league this year and I have created it. We'll have a fantasy bball league as well but I won't open the doors to that one until another month. Anyway, this is the registration thread for hockey. I hope to make this a keeper league. I've never run a hockey keeper before but I imagine it'll go the same way as football and bball leagues I've ran. The number of keepers and the rules will be posted later. Either let me know your interest in here or PM me. Below are the current settings:

I'm definitely interested in a keeper hockey league.

I would strongly recommend using an auction draft, it removes the luck component to who gets Ovechkin, Crosby, et al.

I did a live auction fantasy football draft not too long ago. Talk about a totally different experience. I felt like a rookie to fantasy sports doing that for the first time. It was fun though.

How easy would it be to do an auction draft online? The only people I know that have had experience doing one did it live in person.

The online NFL auction draft I did went very smoothly. It took longer than our standard live RR NFL fantasy draft though... And the roster size was much smaller in the auction league I'm in. I'm thinking an NHL auction draft is going to take 2 hours for sure.

I've only tried ESPN's auction system, so I'm not quite sure how Yahoo's is. I believe both sites offer live mock drafts if you want to try it out before deciding (or for practice before the draft date). I did an 8 team, 16 player NFL auction draft a few days ago, and it took a bit under 2 hours, if I recall correctly.

Sounds good TR. If we get enough interest in this hockey pool, then we should consider it.

OK guys, any others interested? If not, we'll cancel this league.

I'll give it another week before we make a decision.

Yeah, this is too bad. I figured hockey would be more popular than football but no so.

I'm surprised too, I thought there'd be a rush. But I suppose, because they're both winter sports, and thus in direct competition, that it's one or the other for a lot of people, especially with the amount of exposure hockey gets in Canada.
