Huh? What calls are there to move or contract one of the more financially successful franchises in the league, in one of the most desirable markets in the league?

I'm sorry to be harsh here, but this is an incredibly ignorant comment made with obviously zero information.
    No worries about the harshness.

I agree with everything you said. As soon as the issue of contraction came up a month ago all Leafs nuts on TSN.ca started going on about get rid of the Raptors they suck, this is hockey town, BC blows, etc. There were also plenty of American media (NYTimes or NYPost is hte one that stands out) that were talking about the Raptors should be moved.

Again, I agree with all you said. Those who talk about contraction in the same breath as the Raptors are beyond stunned - they are ignorant. Raptors are one of the best attendance franchises over the last 15 years despite few years with winning teams, 4th largest market, one of the higher valued franchises, and they turn a profit each year unlike Memphis and Bobcats to name just 2.

    Here are some articles:

    http://www.businessinsider.com/the-5...racted-2010-10

    http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/11...-make-for.html

This was just a quick search of Google News with "raptors contraction". Notice they are all American media who also state Americans don't want to play for TOR.

I did not agree with this but the comment and thoughts are out there.

I never make a comment without being able to back it up. If I do make a comment without information I always throw in "IMO".

Win or lose, good stats or bad, I just want to see some entertaining games, solid effort put in by the team and to see young players start to develop their game and make progress. And sweet Jesus, not another thread about Bargnani's rebounding.
      right on, man.

good basketball, thats what its about. not good offseasons.. not good front offices.. not good player transactions... that stuff just confuses the important thing..

watching a good 48 minute game of ball.

My apologies. I thought you meant that YOU thought that the team might move or contract. I wasn't aware that there had been so much discussion about the matter. It's incredibly ridiculous, as you no doubt agree.

Did I miss a 10-game winning streak or something?

The team is NOT winning. Just because they recently won a few games doesn't mean the team is a success or that it will enjoy future success this season. If you think that because they recently beat Boston without Rondo that they've got a shot at the playoffs, you're delusional.

The team is starting Reggie freaking Evans to compensate for Bargnani's inability to rebound the ball, and therefor basically playing 4v5 on one side of the ball. Bargnani's inability to play help defense means they're playing 4v5 on the other side. The team isn't going to win consistently until every player on the floor contributes positively in multiple categories and minimizes the weaknesses of the unit rather than simply compensating for them with players equally flawed in other areas.

Fact is, the only specialists you find in the starting lineup of playoff teams are wing defenders that can hit the 3 and not turn the ball over, or big men that rebound, block shots and generally protect the paint. There's a very good reason for that.

I do not disagree with anything there.

It will be interesting to see what happens on Friday vs. Celts again.

You must be new to Raptor fans. A three game win streak means a Championship run, just as a three game losing streak means they need to dismantle the team.

After posting a thread about rebounding i have a question to ask my fellow fansss?

Whats more important Bargnani averaging a 24 and 10 seaon (like the previous franchise player) no play off or

averaging 25 and 5 and make them
I'm not sure I get it. This sounds more like "stats or stats". If the Raptors want to contend one thing they need is to box guys out and not allow offensive boards. Bargnani will never be big on the offensive glass because his game and the play book keep him outside the paint a lot on offense and as such he doesn't get the opportunities on that side of the court like Reggie or Amir have been getting. However, there is no excuse for his lack of defensive rebounding. I understand why he's not getting boards, it's occasionally a lack of effort but mostly a lack of "presence of mind" but regardless, he needs to do better there. Anyone who suggests he should be getting a double double probably doesn't totally understand his game and the limitations his offensive style puts on that section of the box score. I think it's reasonable to expect the occasional offensive board and virtually anything in his "territory" on defense. What's that all add up to? I think around 7 a game but that's just an estimate. The number isn't important. He just needs to make sure that the other team doesn't grab the ball while he's around them.
