*It should be noted Jeff Green's natural position would be a 3 and that is where I'd see him playing for the Raptors*

I would try and trade DeRozan for Afflalo this season and not just wait and try to sign Afflalo if and when hecomes a free agent.

I would look into Oden if he does become a free agent.

    C. Smith would be interesting to look into. He has a bunch of liabilities but as a big man off the bench he can be pretty effective.

Gasol would be a possibility though with Darko gone and Thabeet being a bust so far most likely he stays with the Grizz.

Perkins would never leave the Celtics to play for the Raptors.

Chandler will probably stay with the Knicks, no reason not to unless D'Antoni decides he doesn't want him. However, given the minutes that Chandler is getting now it seems to me that he will stay with the Knicks.

I will stop with these even though there could be others worth commenting on

Money talks. IF the Raps are offering $6M per season and C's come in at $3-3.5 (they are a luxury team) I don't know if Perkins stays. Although he has to show he is 100% come February.

I don't see Afflalo leaving DEN unfortunately. Karl has said he has been his favourite player of ALL TIME to coach.

You are correct on Gasol. I don't see him leaving either especially if Mayo is dealt.

Remember, I am only sniffing around these players! i.e. making phone calls at 12:01 July 1st (barring lockout of course).

Actually Green, Gasol, and Afflalo I am calling with contracts ready to be signed.

Never is a long time so what I should have said is that as long as Rivers is the head coach for the Celtics I don't see Perkins leaving. Boston will do what they need to to keep him.

I would rather play Johnson than Jeff Green.

I want to see Davis and Johnson start together.

I just think that sometime within the next 100 games that they play together that they will make a very very good pair of big men.

You will most likely think that Green and Davis will be better and you could be correct.

I think Green's natural position is SF. Unfortunately for him he plays with some guy named Durant.

(Keep in mind, I don't want to see this become another Bargnani thread)

I'd like to see Green, Davis, Bargnani up front with Johnson first big off the bench.

So far so good for Johnson as a starter.

I would like to see him start for the rest of the season because I think he is currently better than Davis, Reggie when he returns and Kleiza at PF.

If he gets to start 60+ games this season we will all have a clearer picture of whether he should start going forward after this season.

Since he has been with the Raptors he has started 14 games and is averaging about 30 mpg 13 ppg and 7 rpg. His defense has been above average.

People said at the beginning of last season he was a garbage throw in player in the Delfino trade.
This season they are saying that he is a bench player, I had even suggested that. However, now that he has gotten a chance to start and is playing pretty decently and has not been a overall negative while starting I would like to see him start for the rest of the season as long as he can stay on the court for 28 or more mpg and continue to be effective.

Johnson's upside was considered by many when he came out of high school to be a greater than Davis' upside is.

People keep conveniently forgetting that he was "Mr Basketball" in CA which has more players in the NBA than any other state when he was in high school. He was also named one of the 20 greatest players ever to play in the NBA D-League. Davis as I recall could only handle two games in the D-League.

                Good points.

I do not agree with 'so far so good as a starter.' He has been inconsistent with four really good games and five 'meh' games.

As much as I hate to say it, Evans injury in the long run was probably the best thing to happen to the Raptors. Johnson gets a free pass to see what he can do as a starter but I think Davis is starting after All-Star weekend.

I really do not mean any disrespect to Johnson when I say first big off the bench. Evan Lamar Odom plays off the bench when Bynum is healthy - it is not an insult. Great teams have great players on the bench.

I think in the long run Davis is a better defensive prospect than Johnson and as long as Bargnani is around that is obviously a priority.

Johnson has a history of quick, dumb fouls. As a starter he isn't changing this reputation - albeit it is only 9 games. I think he is better off coming off the bench as he would be much better than most other teams second units and he plays with hustle, intensity, and skill.

He has had good games starting (22/16 most notably against the NYK) but he has had good games off the bench as well (17/11 BOS, 12/15 LAL).

*It should be noted Jeff Green's natural position would be a 3 and that is where I'd see him playing for the Raptors*
Shane Battier(veteran SF and can shoot the 3, might be the all needed mentor on defense for Demar and Weems), Rasual Butler(can shoot the 3 too, plays decent defense too, will also be cheaper than Battier), Joel Pryzbilla(a starting center that does the dirty job needed for his team to win games), Sam Dalembert(a shot-blocking center that will fit Bargs game like a glove as he plays good help defense and blocks shots a la Tyson Chandler with Dirk), Kurt Thomas(a center willing to do the dirty job too and sets solid screens, good mentor for Bargs and our bigs) are also players to look at. Corey Brewer is someone to leave off your list - he is over-rated and too skinny for the SF position.

So far so good for Johnson as a starter.

"I would like to see him start for the rest of the season because I think he is currently better than Davis, Reggie when he returns and Kleiza at PF."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! stick those stats you know where!!!!

+1 on offering contracts to Green, Gasol and Afflalo. I would also add Sam Dalembert to the list..

Being realistic, three names stand out.

Daequann Cook, Sam Young, and Perkins.

Three under-the-radar players with a lot to contribute/prove. Perkins is likely to be resigned by Boston. I especially like Cook. Not strictly a spot-up shooter like people think he is (check his college play, guy played like Kobe), but I'd be more than happy to add him to the team's core as a shooter (albeit a bench player).
