  • Well maybe we should thank Glen Grunwald for all his hard work then and discredit Bryan Colangelo because to take this a step futher, the Raptors would not have had gotten the TPE had Glen Grunwald not drafted Chris Bosh. You were missing a lot of dominoes it seems.

      • Actually, let us back up.

        Bayless was acquired by TPE.
        Ajinca was acquired by TPE.
2 first round picks were by Bosh.
1 second round pick was in deal for Ajinca and therefore TPE.

So there you have it, the TPE - minus all other dominoes - directly brought all those assets.

Peja was acquired through Banks, Anderson, Jack. He was released and not traded. DAL needed a roster spot and the TPE brought in Ajinca.

None of those trades happened just thanks to Bosh being moved. So I'll have to agree.

What about Juan Dixon for Primoz Brezec?

Not related, but a GREAT trade.

Fair enough. I think we are in a sort of agreement - haha.

My point is anything the TPE brings back by itself is a direct result of Bosh being traded and the TPE coming in return.

If the TPE starts being used in deals with other players then it most definitely becomes a very slippery slope. But for now, that list, IMO, is the returns of Bosh thus far. $10.8M left. I cannot wait to see what happens with it. Whatever happens you can guarantee it won't be easy or uncomplicated given its use thus far.

                  • I meant to say disagree. Hahaha.

My whole deal was what you were saying was making the Bosh deal look better than it actually was in reality. A lot more went into most of those trades and one of the first rounders should have never left the Raptors hands to begin with.

                    • Colangelo Safe By Default

“I haven’t talked to anyone about my contract,” he said Friday. “Anyone who says I have is talking BS. I’m not looking for the door right now; I love being here. My focus is on moving forward.”
Those reading the tea leaves inside the MLSE board room describe a scene where practicality has replaced passion.

“They know he’s not the Messiah they thought he was five years ago,” said one source. “But they’re also realizing no one is. If there was a Messiah, they’d hire him.”

And so it’s come to this: MLSE and Colangelo will likely realize that, for now, they’re stuck with each other.
Colangelo remains a hard-working, resourceful and risk-taking executive – “he keeps swinging for the fences, he’s just missed” – and MLSE and the Raptors and Toronto retain their better-than-most status among NBA owners.
But if it’s not him who resurrects the franchise’s fortunes, then who? Who will be better and how long to find out that he’s not? And then what?

                        • I would be absolutely shocked if he was not kept on.

                          Two reasons:

                          1) He has re-built teams faster than many around the league. Most notably the Suns the year before they got Nash - again. He has a history of tearing teams down and making them relevant again in a short period of time.

                          2) And more importantly, have you seen the Raps profit under his guidance? Even with a losing product they are churning out profits hand over fist. Imagine if the club became a winner?

My personal opinion is the marketing scheme of the Raptors next season will be something along the lines of "A new beginning." There will be a new coach, another high turnover of players but a very young core, and a very highly touted draft pick. They will probably show clips of franchise highs of the Raps with Damon Stoudemire, VC/T-Mac/Oak/Antonio, Bosh and 2007 season, and the current crop of new/young players.

Take this for what it is worth - me talking out my @ss.

                          • Why not? He is making them ton of profit while branding this garbage of a team. Who cares if he has been here for 5 years and after all that time, all that money, we get blown out by a 10 win team like last night !!

At the end of the day MLSE is all about the profit and as long as you have Kool-Aid drinking fans who buy the garbage that BC is selling, then BC is gonna stay here no matter how the team is performing.

How is that different than "Kool-Aid" drinking fans who continually defend Bargnani?

LOOOL, It is not but one is not a Bargnani defender if he chooses to see the big picture and the real problems with this team instead of fixation over one player due to personal bias

Can you see the difference ? I am sure you can not since you are blinded by hate for AB

I am a Raptor fan and do not care about one player and tend to focus on why a team have same problems after changing over 20 different players over 5 years
