Default Quiet Trade Deadline For Raptors

For the rebuilding Raptors, there’s no point in pulling off a deal that compromises the development of their young and emerging core, no sense in adding a big contract when so much salary flexibility has been already been created.

At the same time, if a deal presents itself that is simply too attractive to turn down, you know general manager Bryan Colangelo will do it.

But for now, don’t expect anything of any consequence.

“I will say there’s all sorts of conversation as we always do as a matter of course,’’ Colangelo relayed from Arizona on Sunday after leaving the league’s all-star weekend for a scouting trip.

“A lot of deals have been talked about, small deals that involve tweaks to the roster. I’d characterize them as opportunity-type deals.”

I don't anticipate any blockbusters, but a small move for a second rounder or a late first rounder would not surprise me.

I'd like to see a move for a prospect that maybe sends a guy like Weems out of town.

I'd like to see Jose's or Barbosa's salary shed.

IF DEN-NYK-MIN goes through, maybe MIN sends us Curry (buy him out) for Jose and get Flynn with the TPE? I still don't understand MIN giving up Brewer and taking on Curry (to buy him out) for just Randolph. Reportedly no draft pick is coming from MIN now - which at least makes it plausible.

I'm not advocating Flynn for the future but come draft day he certainly could be used in combination with MIA's pick to move up.

Default Danilo Gallinari A Possible Raptor ?

The Nuggets are not expected to retain Danilo Gallinari, according to sources that spoke with Ric Bucher.

The Nets, Clippers, Cavaliers and Raptors are all expected to express interest in Gallinari.

Gallinari was the sixth overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft.

Why do I have the feeling that Alabi is in the proposed trade? This is interesting and I guess we'll have an answer by the Thursday deadline at the latest.

Hmm, perhaps Masai Ujiri drafted him in TO. Gallinari will make the Italian stallions of upper management drool for sure. This is going down and knowing BC, this will be his opportunity to swing for the fences as usual. It does address our need for a 3 and a 3 point shooting at that (.347 3pt%). Hmm, at one point, I'm pining for AB7 to get moved. Now, his buddy on the national team might join him. Too bad we had to let go of Belli (I'm joking on that one).

He brings size for the 3 spot with the ability to play the 4 in small ball situations (not that small I guess), I have no idea how his perimeter defense is, but it can't be worse than any other 3 we have. He is cheap right not at 3-4 mil as well.

If Gallo joins our rebuilding team, he better just shoot the damn 3pter when he catches the ball on a set play. If he pump-fakes and travels for a turnover, I'll shoot myself.

Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj6Ww...eature=related The guy can play, I am warming up to him for sure. This is just one game, not a season long highlight.

Default Colangelo Interested In Dealing Heat Pick?

“We might consider doing something now with the Miami (first-round pick) if the right kind of player can be obtained,” the Raptors president and general manager said in an e-mail.
“We are having discussions with several teams, but mostly for smaller type deals that don’t compromise our plan of acquiring future assets or creating more flexibility,” said Colangelo.
“If a significant piece is available that makes us better long term, we would certainly entertain that idea (using the full exception) as well, but (it’s) unlikely,” he said.

    I saw that.

I like Gallinari off the bench here with a defensive minded, rebounding 3 to start.

What about: DEN gets Alibi, MIA first round for Gallinari (TPE)? That takes TOR right under the luxury tax.

I think the Raptors would have to give up another player. Julian Wright might be enough to toss in with what you mentioned. If not him then maybe Weems.

I wouldn't trade alabi yet it could come back to bite us in 3-4 years. Also if we trade for this guy and triano starts another none defensive player I am going to be really annoyed.

    Default Gallinari Staying In Denver

There were reports Monday that the Nuggets were considering re-routing Gallinari and Mozgov to New Jersey in exchange for two first-round picks. But Denver GM Masai Ujiri said that would not be the case. "We brought those guys in to play for the Nuggets," Ujiri said.

Alabi's going to bite us in the butt? Have you seen the guy play? No, seriously. And don't give me that old line about centres needing more time to develop than other players. While that is true to a point, Alabi can barely remain standing on an NBA court. The slightest breeze knocks him over. He is the most uncoordinated player I have EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. If he ever develops into even a serviceable rotation player on the worst team in the league, I will be completely gobsmacked. Have I made myself clear? No way he'll ever bite us on the butt. A butterfly kiss on the toochus? Perhaps. But no bite.

Alabi is not a deal killer type of player at this point. He's so raw that he could just as likely not be in the league in two to three years.
