this is the type of sheer stupidity that many of the people on this board are tired of...
This screams of "Ah I was wrong! Quick, get SUPER defensive until people forget about what I said initially"

"oh jose calderon had two blocks today...maybe now hez gona lead the league in blocked shots"
Why not mention his 17 assists and 3 TO? Or you just didn't want to give a good PG credit?

Sounds like he definitely not in the plans moving forward...

One game means more than what the James Johnson critics currently have, that being nothing. It wasn't fair to jump the gun on the extreme negativity without giving this guy a chance. It's not fair to jump the gun after one good game either but seeing how fairness is now at the sidelines:

        James Johnson 1
Impatient fans who don't know/care about the circumstances of the coming draft 0

Should be a good match up.
I was not a James Johnson fan, but watching him in that game has caused me to move back to neutral territory. I'm obviously not suddenly going to say he is going to be a good player, but I really, really liked what I saw. If he can continue to play in a similar manner, then this was a great trade.

I found this little tidbit interesting (I found it on the ESPN Insiders section). It should be in the Baron Davis-Mo Williams thread, but look at the part that I bolded and you'll see why I included this in this particular thread. I thought that it tied in a bit with the whole Johnson for Miami pick trade.

If the Clips feel that way, and they're in the lotto, just think about how many feel about that pick that was jettisoned to Chicago.
That trade was absolutely bizarre. If Cleveland was simply trying to dump salary, is that really the best they could do? That's sad.

Every time they put a microphone in his face he starts talking about playing defense or how he took his first season for granted but worked hard in the off-season and now the payoff is here. I love the guy's attitude and you have to think Colangelo knew exactly what he was getting seeing how he was up here for workouts and was a potential pick in the slot DeRozan was selected.

                hahaha yet another heinz-ism.

the only thing im worried about is him coming to the Raps and thinking he's gonna be the savior and would try to do too much. i saw that with bayless, jack, etc.

but he seems like a stable and all around nice guy. might be a new member of the young gunz!

The thing with those guys is they thought 'saviour' meant scoring as many points as you can. And Bayless is solid at it when he's not playing like last night. However it can cause the ball to 'stick' in the Set, and take bad shots.
With James Johnson though, he interprets 'saviour' as playing hard D, hustling and rebounding. You can never have too many guys trying to 'do too much' when its on the Defensive end of the floor.

its too early to say, but i'm hoping johnson is a "saviour" in a Garbajosa non-stat way... attitude, work ethic, making QUALITY plays rather than stat padding plays, etc

                    • Colangelo Has Had Talks About Flynn

There is a rumor floating around that the Raptors have inquired about Johnny Flynn:

The Kings, Clippers, Blazers, Raptors, Knicks, Bobcats and Cavs showed interest in Jonny Flynn last month. Now, the Rockets are interested.

You have no idea how much I hope this is true. The guy is tough - no doubt. He won't back down from anyone. He is big and athletic. He appears to be everything many BC/Bargs haters/questioners say the team needs more of.

I'd still like to have MIA pick but if last night is any indication of future contributions, I will get over that very quickly.

                        • Knicks shopping Brewer and balkman to free up roster space.

                          TPE/2nd round pick for Brewer?

                          • I'd do that but I think the Knicks would toss the offer in the trash can. I'd consider Balkman for Dorsey plus TPE to balance the deal. The Knicks are looking for bigs and right now with JJ in town it's becoming hard to envision him being back after this season. Balkman is a solid defender and has the potential to be a solid end of the rotation type player when the Raptors have injuries or wish to shake things up at times.

                            • Trade Deadline: Feb 24, 2011 at 3 pm EST

In case you didn't know. There is about a half hour left before the deadline. Sometimes trades continue to trickle in because it takes time for the league to review them but teams can't submit anything to the league after 3PM.
