I guess I should clarify as well. I don't expect the Raptors to draft Kemba. I just really like him, and will be one of the ones following his career no matter where he lands. That being said, just as Apollo put it, I wouldn't be upset with the Pick, because I know we are getting a guy who will come in and be a Leader in the LockerRoom right off the get go. They mention in that clip, that he is one of the few that will come in and right away have the confidence and swagger to step into an NBA locker Room and lead a group of Grown Men.

Yeah, I could see him having a similar rookie campaign to Brandon Jennings' if he lands in the right system... Only with a little better scoring efficiency.

    chad ford today on Valanciunas:

Other guy in there that I worry about is Jonas Valanciunas. Keep hearing his contract situation is messy and he may be a Rubio type that's a couple of years away from being allowed to play for the NBA. That could affect his draft stock.
i recognize this rebuild will take a few years, but the prospect of drafting a dude that will not impact the team for a long time does not really excite me

If that's the case I could see a team like Utah or Houston grabbing him at the back end of the lotto.

It's official, Derrick Williams will enter the 2011 NBA draft. We are up to a couple solid players coming out, deeper it gets the better in case we slide.

I would agree. I'm not sold on his ability to transition from the four in college to the three in the NBA. But it is at least nice that some good options are coming out. If he ends up on the Raptors I am not going to be disappointed, but hopefully this simply means that players who are a more natural fit fall to the Raptors instead.

    +1

Any player (like Williams) declaring who gets a team who is higher (that is, if we don't draft #1) to think about drafting them over a player that the Raps would want (Irving, possibly Barnes) is a good thing. I hope that previous sentence made sense.

With Perry Jones out and Walker seems like a viable top 5 pick. Outside of Irving and Williams, the rest of the teams in the top ten are probably getting mostly projects. Even as gifted as Walker is, he's going to need a couple years to work on his jumper.
This is bang on - this draft is so unpredictable and there really there hasn't been one like this for a decade. Picks 6-20 could end up all being about the same value.

Default Nets to host multi-player draft workout open to all 30 NBA teams

Great Idea on New Jersey's part. This should be something BC and the Scouting Staff are ALL over. Will be interesting to see who shows up.

The New Jersey Nets will partner with Houston and New York to host a workout for approximately 40 prospects on May 7 and 8 that could significantly impact the draft landscape, two sources told SI.com.

The workout, which will take place at the Nets training facility and is open for participation to all 30 NBA teams, will serve as a solution to the problems created by the NCAA's May 8 deadline by which underclassmen must withdraw to retain eligibility. Because the league's early-entrant deadline is April 24, teams are faced with a limited amount of time to evaluate underclassmen that might be available for the June 23 draft.

Thus, the group viewing has become necessary.

"(Prospects) literally can't go to all 30 places (to work out with teams in that timespan)," said one executive whose team will attend. "At most, four or five workouts could be had (in that time). So by doing the group thing, we lose any potential advantage we would have had if we could've secured the guy (for an exclusive workout), but our chances of not being able to see him are pretty slim from what they were. Before you were one of 30 (vying for a look), and now you're 50-50 whether a guy will come, and if he comes you're there."

The approximately 40 prospects will be allowed to compete in five-on-five drills. That caveat is a key factor as far as the teams are concerned, as teams can only host six players in one-team workouts and only see three-on-three action as a result.
ADD In hindsight, this may not have been the best place to put this, but I am interested to see what the Raptors do in order to take advantage of such a great opportunity.

How about we draft one of Kanter/Valanuciunas/Montijunas and trade Bargnani for Beasley.
