Again, I could be wrong, that's just my impression.
edit: or he's able to force him man down low, not necessarily blow by him.
On his drives it is usually off ball movement and taking advantage of his man closing out.

Also how are we going to acquire said star with no draft picks? We need to trade a player of value to get value...right now that means Val or DD....and I'm not trading Val

He gets to the rim because he's crafty and has elite (not good, elite) footwork, similar to a guy like Paul Pierce (who got to the like like 8-9 times per game in his prime)

Comparing Demar Derozan's 2013-2014 season to the most famous mid-range shooter in the game: LaMarcus Aldridge.
It's important to begin with saying this: LA is a semi-stretch 4, which adds a little more value to his game than Demar's.
All counting stats are per 36 minutes.
DD LA
FG%: 42.9 45.8
3FG%: 30.5 20.0
EFG%: 45.2 45.9
TS%: 53.2 50.7
FGA: 16.8 20.5
FTA: 7.5 5.2
USG%: 28.0 29.8
RB: 4.1 11.0
AST: 3.7 2.6
Demar is a mid-range player. That's just the way it is. I don't think that's necessarily crippling though.
He's producing more efficiently than Lamarcus Aldridge at a slightly lower USG%.
Demar has to improve his passing ability and court vision, as was made evidently clear in this most recent series against Brooklyn. If he does that, I think he can be a very solid 1b for a strong offensive 4/5."Bruno?
Heh, if he is in the D-league still in a few years I will be surprised.
He's terrible."

A mid-range big man and a mid-range wing are two entirely different things for a defense to react to.

If we had a real 3 who could pull the bigger defender off of Demar, then I think Demar's mid range game becomes a lot more valuable. That gives him the option to take a couple steps in and post up, or a couple steps back for an open shot when he gets the ball. Demar's got some pretty decent size for a SG, and having him semi-post up in kobe fashion could be deadly. Only problem is that we're starting two SGs, so Demar is always guarded by a bigger, stronger SF.
edit: starting ross alongside DD is like if Portland started Amir next to LA. all of a sudden, pulling Howard out of the paint isn't so bad, and Houston doesn't even have to play Asik at the same time to compensate.Last edited by stooley; Mon May 5, 2014, 03:37 PM."Bruno?

Every single one of those plays a drive, and yet he settles for so many jumpers every game.

I think he settles too much.
