If there's one thing to be optimistic about, it's that DeRozan's been a late bloomer in the past as well (he didn't start playing well until conference play at USC, and it was the 2nd half of last season where he finally started to impress).
Maybe we'll see a similar curve this season?
"I won't shoot 5 for 19 again...." - DeFrozen (in theaters now)
Me, im not hating on Demar. Im disappointed, same way i felt about Bargnani when he forgot about rebounding and defending. But the stark difference here is, Bargnani had something consistent even when he didnt care about defense...scoring. He put up points night in and night out. But with Demar, there's no consistency. But i still consider him a part of the core. Like what Apollo said, with a full camp, i have no doubts he'll be back in the saddle.
i think he'll be in a whole new saddle pimped out with Diamond Jewels and shit with a full camp.
- Streaky play
- Struggles to adapt to being the primary defensive target when his crutch(Chris Bosh) was in street clothes on the bench.
DeMar is going through the same stuff Andrea did early on in his career. It was not until the past couple years that Andrea showed any consistency to his offensive game. He would be lethal one night and as cold as dry ice the next game.
*** So I decided to answer my own question, from ESPN Stats
1) DeRozan ranks 19 (out of 21) in FG%, among qualified SGs (38.7%)
2) Looking at SF, DeRozan would rank 17 (out of 18) in FG%, if he were included among qualified SFs
3) DeRozan is not even "qualified" (on pace to make 55 3pt shots) for 3PT% stats, but of SGs who have 20+ 3pt attempts, he would rank 50th in 3PT% (32%)
4) DeRozan would be ranked outside the top 30 among SFs who have 20+ 3pt attempts

In the last 10 games DeRozan is 34th in FG% among all guards (PG&SG). Of those players 19 of them are are point guards. Jose is #5 overall with a 525%
These are the players ahead of DeMar
Dwyane Wade , MIA
Landry Fields , NYK
Jared Dudley , PHX
Gerald Henderson , CHA
Jason Richardson , ORL
Jason Terry , DAL
Ray Allen , BOS
Anthony Morrow , NJN
James Harden , OKC
Monta Ellis , GSW
Kevin Martin , HOU
Paul George , IND
Nick Young , WAS
Jamal Crawford , POR
DeMar DeRozan , TOR
In the last 5 games DeMar is 16th among guards. 5th among shooting guards. Jose is #1 overall with a .598 FG%
DeMar does not rank in the 3P% due to the amount of attempts he takes.

My question would be why are you lumping him in with SG and PGs? How many minutes have you seen him play at the point? It's fair to compare him to SF but not PG.
They just have breakdowns of C's, G's, and F's on NBA.com
He would be 33rd amongst forwards (PF &SF) and 13th out of just SF's in ten games
25th in the last five games and 8th among just SF's

Another good game from DeMar. Shooting over 50% and getting to the line. He has pretty much dropped the 3 from his game.
It's not all about his shooting, unfortunately. Zero assists, zero rebounds??? That's near-impossible for an athletic 6-6 starting wing who plays over 30 minutes a game.
Maybe it's not Bayless vs. Barbosa as the energy scoring punch off the bench long term. Maybe it's Demar vs. Barbosa...
Definition of Statistics: The science of producing unreliable facts from reliable figures.
Yeah I wouldn't say he had a particularly good game. He didn't notch a single rebound or assist, nor did he do anything to stop his assignment. He also didn't show up in the fourth quarter at all.
*During break between 3rd and 4th quarter*
LotteryBall: "Yo, DeMar. Come here baby."
DD: "Whut up, Lottery?"
LotteryBall: "You gots to try one of these new Codeine M&M's. They are incredible for a 4th quarter boost."
DD: "Shit yeah. Hand some over LotteryBall. Oh yeah. These are good shit. Give me another handful."
And there you have it. DeMar was asleep on his feet due to candy coated codeine.
Lol DD has been scoring well over the last few games so now you guys have tp bitch about his rebounding. Shooting guards don't have the same rebounding responsibilities as big men. So who the hell cares?

to demar's credit he is a a talented passer. I saw some sweet bullet bounce passes to amir against the bobcats but amir wasn't paying attention to Bismack the Bust Biyombo and got blocked a couple of times
