        Jeff in Toronto:
Hoopsworld is getting us excited with a report that Bargnani might be traded! I say ship out Colangelo, Triano and Bargnani and create a defence-first environment here in Toronto. The fans would love that.

        Bill Ingram:
I guess so! Lots of Bargs questions this morning. Don't worry - of BC wants to deal him, there will be takers.

Sounds like he might have value around the league.

Rubio isn't part of the trade machine options, but I would like to see him involved in the exchange for Bargnani. Not sure how to make that work, but would not be opposed to taking Milicic back in the deal either.

You can keep dreaming. There's no way Kahn gives up Rubio for Bargnani, even if we take on Milicic's contract.

I like it but would rather just Okur/NJ pick for Bargnani. Amir is a great back up big man, in my opinion. With Favors and Millsap, I do not see UTA looking to take on Amir.

Barring lock out this would work after July 1st:

I like this one. Thompson would be a good center to pair with Amir and Davis. And if the Raptors draft a center in the draft, he can hold the position until they are ready to take over.

I don't like the Flynn trade mostly because I really don't think he's going to be anything more than a mediocre PG.

Don't like it at all. FIrst of all, Utah doesn't need another big man, especially two. They already have Jefferson, Favors and Millsap. I also don't like giving Amir up. He's got a reasonable contract and is the type of player you can win with.

I'm not a fan of getting either Okur or Haywood.

With respect, not on your friggin life. I'm obviously for trading Bargnani, but not for a 31 year old big man who isn't a good defender and who missed most of the season due to injury. I believe Bargnani has trade value, and I'd want either a good young player, a prospect or a lottery pick for him. To me, getting Okur would basically be a salary dump because, if he's not going to help in the long term, then he's pretty much useless.

Okur/2011 New Jersey Nets 1st round pick for Bargnani.

You wouldn't? I'm not sure if you saw the Nets pick.

Somehow my last 3-5 posts in various forums have disappeared. I wanted to build on the Sac trade and include the Barbosa/Alabi- Felton trade I mentioned elsewhere: if we combine with your Bargs trade with Sac, and getting say a Tyson Chandler (any clue why Dallas has Haywood signed until he is 37yrs old??), we could look at this with it:
Salary and roster wise it would be around $60M or less and look like this:
                          PG: Felton($7.1M)/B Knight (from 2nd draft pick)($1.8Mest.)/Bayless($3M)
                          SG: Derozan($2.6M)/Garcia($5.8M)
SF: Harrison Barnes or Derrick Williams ($2Mest.)/JJ($2M)/Kleiza($4.6M)
                          PF: ED ($2M)/Amir ($5.5M)
                          C: Tyson Chandler ($10-12M?/Jason Thompson $2.5M)
                          Bench/Suit: Dorsey(~$1M)/Ajinca or Weems(~$1.5M)/returned trade from Calderon (~$7M).

Felton's team, with Knight growing into the role for the next 2yrs. I am not considering what we get for Calderon either as I look at this. Honestly looking at the Knight pick for Calderon(to Philly for Nocioni?), and that would mean we have some contract on the bench that we had to take back bumping Weems and/or Ajinca out, so perhaps get Sac's pick and trade for another pick next year or draft say a Valenciunas/Kanter and stash in Europe for 2yrs/bench? This would be along the same lines as your Okur thoughts Matt.
I would really like that team.

If the proposed Sacramento trade were doable (Bargnani + Bayless = Thompson + Garcia + 2011 First Round Pick), we could have the following line-up rather easily next year:

                            Irving/Calderon
                            DeRozon/Garcia
                            J. Johnson/Kleiza
                            Davis/A. Johnson
                            Jason Thompson/Alabi

With two high picks we would have strong odds of winning the draft, therefore able to get Irving. If we did not win the draft outright with one of the picks, we could package them to move up and get Irving.

Under the first scenario (winning draft) this would give us a second high pick in order to also acquire a player like Barnes/Williams/Kanter.

Also this summer, DeAndre Jordan is a restricted free agent, but only up to the value of the MLE (varies, but has been around $5.7mil the last few years). He might be attainable at the right figure.

This could then be a team that could grow/gel together for a few years, with the potential of still adding strong complementary players through future drafts.

But what will really change our franchise for the coming years is what we can get for Bargnani...or if we even move him at all.

Here is a question, if Sacramento were interested in Bargnani and also won the draft lottery, what would people think of this trade:

Toronto Trades: Bargnani + Bayless + 2011 First Round Pick (for argument, let's say 4th overall)
Sacramento Trades: Thompson + Garcia + First Overall pick (Irving)

                            Thoughts on this hypothetical?

How about this trade plus we receieve both Utah and New Jersey's picks
We can draft say Harrison Barnes, Kemba Walker, and Enes Kanter at the same time

                              Kemba Walker
                              Derozan
                              Barnes
                              Davis
                              Kanter

                              Sounds good no?
