Not surprising given that the players have almost no leverage, plus the fact that they folded like a cheap suit less than a decade ago.

Word is teams are burning up the phone lines trying to swing trades before midnight. Wonder if the raps will be involved.

that tickles my belly just thinking about it. Imagine how many weird moves gm's are willing to make now that they know there is a lockout for sure...

Default What can we do to save this game?

    Lockout's here.

I don't know about you. But for me, baseball, hockey, football or even soccer's ok, but it's not the same as bball. It seems we don't yet have a sense of urgency that we might not see any ball in November. Can you guys imagine winters without ball? Can you imagine your kids growing up choosing baseball over basketball? (Nothing wrong with baseball, but your kids won't appreciate basketball as much as you. They'll just hear stories from you when there was once a great basketball league... but as they're growing up, they'll think of it equivalent to the MLS) Can you imagine, eventually our forum discussions will die down and what will we have to do all summer?

Can we do anything... maybe start some kind of petition to tell the greedy players and owners to get along? They're already richer than 95% of us... why can't they learn to share?

I see you go for one of those other 29 teams without a 2010/2011 Championship.

Back on topic, all current player pics have been taken down on NBA.com. My theory is that it's a legal issue. Anyone hear anything about it?

    Default Lockout Affects...

Now that there is a lockout, i"m a bit unsure of how some thing work out. I was wondering what happens to the free agents. Do they get paid? Do teams get to propose and accept trades? How does this effect the Raptors?

    Thank You for your clarification.

Nobody gets paid (well 200 players apparently who negotiated 12-month paychecks instead of the standard method will be paid until October), no trades, teams can have zero contact with any players signed, or free agents, everything is on hold.

Yes. And my team didn't even make the friggin playoffs.

It is. I heard a few weeks ago that all NBA sites would have to remove any and all pictures and/or promotions for players in the event of a lockout. I can't find the reference off hand though.

Default Chuck says there will be no season

"It's going to get ugly. I've already been on the record saying I don't think they're going to play at all next season," Hall of Famer and TNT analyst Charles Barkley said yesterday.

    Default Player Profit sharing?

Players want owners to profit share since some the 'have' owners (7 of the 29 who do make money) could make enough to cover the losses of the 22 who (allegedly) don't.

How would the players respond to profit sharing. ...

ok boys here is 60 mill go divide it up equally? .... ANARCHY.... why?

should Bargs make the same as Dirk?.... no
should Kleiza make the same as Bron...?
Should Doug Cristie have made the same as Jordan
How about Oliver Miller and Tim Duncan?

The obvious answer is no because Tim Duncan watches what he eats and works out religiously and makes far more sacrifices to reward his fans with countless seasons of excellent play.

Same goes for ownership - Clippers are in the gutter because of crappy ownership who has done the least of all the franchises - Dallas is the opposite. For Mark Cuban to share profits with other owners who don't put in half the blood sweat and tears as he does/did would be criminal.

I am with the owners on this one. NBA players are the best paid in the world and there are a lot of teams who are loosing money.,,, and no way in he11 would they accept profit sharing.

The players HAVE been profit sharing for years. Not sure this is really all that controversial.

And just to add, it's "losing", not "loosing". I normally wouldn't say anything, but I find a lot of people seem to confuse the two. There's no such word as "loosing".

Default if i'm a locked out and dissatisfied star

hey chris paul, dwight howard. if you get locked out it is not a threat but an opportunity... an opportunity to put together on your own a 4-team round-robin and elimination tourney.

4 elite teams playing in a short series could be very memorable and would remind the nba who holds the power.
