  • A Potential Destination for Calderon? DEN-SAC-TOR

Ok, Denver needs a backup PG and SG (Felton wants a trade, won't get starting job over Ty Lawson, they will lobby hard to keep Afflalo to start and won't re-sign JR Smith), SAC needs a starting PG (Udrih to bench, Evans is their SG), we need a backup C and perhaps another pick? Is an asset.

    SAC: RFelton
    DEN: FGarcia, JCalderon
TOR: TMosgov, Denver 1st rnd pick.

Felton would help solidify the backcourt for SAC (likely the only one of them playing D though). They are talking of re-signing Dalembert, which would surprise me if that happens, but have a high pick (as a pick or trade asset) $30+M to go after FAs which they have publicly indicated they will do.

Denver gets their backup PG, backup SG, have around $25M to spend on bringing back Nene and Afflalo, potentially but not for sure WChandler, and KMart wants to re-sign (would be for significantly less). They might want JThompson in this trade as well, but who knows.

Toronto is about freeing up salary, backup C, and requires other trades to happen or KIrving in the draft.

Depending upon how the draft goes potential picks at 22nd point: Biyombo, Faried, Josh Selby, Tyler Honeycutt, etc. or a trade asset to go to...say Portland??

If this is followed up by:

      LAC: Trevor Ariza, LBarbosa.
Get their experienced, solid defender floor spreading SF, and Barbosa would, imo, fit in very well with their team and fill a gap on the bench.

      PORT: ABargnani, David Andersen.
Bargnani and Andersen provide needed depth C/PF, and while they give up Batum, it is utilizing depth at the wings to fill a gaping hole(s) at the 4/5. Perhaps add in Denver's pick if we get it from this trade: http://raptorsrepublic.com/forums/sh...on-DEN-SAC-TOR

NOLA: RGomes, RFernandez, Minny 2012 1st rd pick OR LAC top-10 protected.
need a solid SG, and the pick.

      TOR: NBatum, MCamby, RFoye.
Camby is, in reality, a rental to make the salaries work. He would be a great mentor for Kanter, but he either retires or goes elsewhere after the year is up.

      Draft: Kanter
      PG: JBayless(3), RFoye (4.2)
      SG: Derozan(2.6), 2 of AAfflalo/KAzubuike/WChandler/DCook/CJ Miles/JR Smith/SWeems/James Jones.
      SF: NBatum(2.1), JJ(1.8), Kleiza (4.6)
      PF: ED(2), Amir (5.5)
      C: Kanter(4), Camby(9.2), Mosgov(3.5), Alabi(.8)
Salary: ($40.3M before free agents!!) ~$48.5M.This leaves lots of necessary room for re-upping DD, ED, Batum, etc. Even money to chase after DJordan if possible.

foye is a bad backup for Bayless. Besides that this trade looks pretty sexy

As for Calderon, if the team is uncomfortable with Bayless at the point, AND miss out on Irving, then perhaps:

            DEN: Calderon, Alabi.
Felton wants out if he won't start (which he won't), and Alabi is Masai's discovery.

            TOR: Felton, Mosgov.
Get a starting PG who plays decent defense, and a learning but serviceable backup C.

Essentially Denver solves a locker room problem for a solid backup PG, and exchanging backup C's although Toronto gets the better of the C deal, it solves Denver's issues and the Raps take an extra million off the books for Denver.
