Default Three Team Blockbuster Trade Rumor

Three Team 9 Player Trade Rumor (TOR,IND,MEM)

Rumblings of trade rumours are coming out of the NBA for those teams now out of the post season. The news could get much more real for teams like the Pacers, Grizzlies and Raptors as a proposed 9 player trade could take place. Although just rumours one source has stated GM’s of these teams have been in heavy talks. This proposed trade works out on paper with the required salaries balancing out and beneficial to all. This could be much more than a rumour!

This idea out of the woodworks has put forth a 3 team proposal involving the Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors. 9 players will be changing cities if the rumoured trade goes down.

    The trade breaks down as follows;

To Indiana we would see OJ Mayo from Memphis, a player the Pacers have previously tried to trade for during the trade deadline as well as Xavier Henry the 12th pick of the 2010 draft. The Toronto Raptors would send Jose Manuel Calderon giving the pacers a veteran point guard who could again replace the departed TJ Ford.

The Memphis Grizzlies would receive Andrea Bargnani. Recently Bargnani stated on Italian broadcast of the playoffs his displeasure with how Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo ousted him out in his exit interview at the end of the season. The Grizz would also get Leandrinho Barbosa from the Raptors, along with the 10th overall pick of the 2010 draft; Paul George.

The Raptors would welcome a very much needed Rudy Gay, as well as James Posey and Dahntay Jones from Indiana. Rudy Gay would fit in perfect with this young, exciting, athletic core group of guys like J.Bayless, D.Derozan, J. Johnson, A. Johnson and E. Davis. Posey and Jones would be trade fillers with some possible up-side in Jones who was mainly signed to his current contract because of his defense which Toronto could use.

    Trade rumor recap:

    Trade to Memphis

Andrea Bargnani, Leandrinho Barbosa, , Paul George

    Trade to Indiana

OJ Mayo, Xavier Henry, Jose Calderon

    Trade to Toronto

Rudy Gay, James Posey, Dahntay Jones

Drops to knees and prays to the basketball gods this goes through. Imagine DD at the 2 and Gay at the 3. That would be sick. Dahntay Jones is crazy, too. I hope this goes thru. If this IS in fact true, maybe BC has an eye on a Big in the draft. Could be some magic. I like the fact that if possible, it may not affect the development of our young guys, too much. And remember, we still have Feb Trade Deadline, if some of these pieces don't work. As well as, it looks like BC's also trying to deepen the bench (Posey).

    Default Paraphrased

Raptors Outbound: Bargnani, Calderon and Barbosa
Raptors Inbound: Rudy Gay, James Posey and Dahntay Jones

I like it. I think Posey would be bought out. Jones is very good on defense and would spell the official end of Sonny Weems in Toronto. What does this all mean though really? The Raptors would absolutely need a new PG. I think one could be had in Walker or maybe Knight at #5. The center spot possibly could be filled by Davis. This all would open the door to Reggie Evans coming back. They would need to take the cap space and go get a center.

I would have to think that the Grizz also get Toronto's pick. For them to give up Mayo, Gay and Henry and only get back Bargnani, Barbosa and George is crazy. I mean, I know the Grizz have a lot of financial committments upcoming with Gasol, but the price is too much. Are they thinking of moving Bargnani to the 3? I guess that's what it seems.

Throwing in our pick for that package is too much.

This sounds good, we get rid of softness, in return we get mediocre defenders.

I think if we make the above deal then we are aiming for Walker or Knight with our pick.
We could pick up a vetern FA big (Dalembert has been one name that keeps coming up) to help with our size. Or draft a big man or sign Oden or Dalembert, sign a backup pg/sg like Rodney Stuckey who is a free agent.

I am really conflicted on Rudy Gay. He is an incredible talent and would bring a lot of what the Raptors need. But is he worth his contract? Would his contract be crippling with the new CBA coming? Is Rudy a top 10 SF in the league?

True, we take a lot of money off the books with Jose, Bargs, and Barbosa leaving, but I still don't think this is worth it in the long run. It seems that we are so desperate for a good SF on the Raptors, that we jump at any opportunity.

I would definitely not be interested if we are giving up our pick as well.

Rudy Gay is more than our franchise could hope for at this juncture.

If not this year, it has to be a draft pick going Memphis' way - either ours or Indiana's. They're giving up quite a lot.

I like this trade for all the teams, actually. Indy said they were going to spend and do whatever it takes to be a contender, Toronto gets a exciting allstar and doesn't give up it's pick (that we know of) and Memphis sheds a massive contract while getting a extremely promising young star and serious scoring odd the bench.

The one thing that I question is Indy giving up George. I was under the impression they were really high on him. Like, REALLY high on him. Mayo and Henry make them a much better/deeper team but the way they were rambling on about their boners for George it seems kinda weird.

If Bosh was not worth max money than neither is Rudy Gay. At least Bosh has made an all star team. Sure Gay has had more competition playing out in the West, but what has he really accomplished with the Griz? The team excelled in the playoffs but he wasn't even playing.

With the new CBA looming, I think its a bad time to take on someone like Gay. I personally hope the trade doesn't go through.

Yes, but its the 2nd worst position in terms of talent. And my God is he overpaid. I'd rather have Paul George tbh. But considering what we're giving up, I'd take that deal for sure.

I doubt that this goes down though.
