Default Sharp-Shooting SG High On Raptors Wishlist

As per Doug Smith's chat this afternoon.

Just a shame we don't have much to offer besides Bosh.

[Comment From Ron Ron : ]
Prior to the start of the season, Triano lamentd that they don't have a 3 point specialist with the departure of Kapono and Parker. While it is not a big concern do you think it is something they target at the deadline?

I would think a sharp-shooting two would be at the very top of the list, yes. Who? I have no idea

We need one for sure. Maybe if we can trade Hedo considering he isn't doing jack for us now

I know the Raptors expressed some interest in Kings SG Kevin Martin earlier and the Kings said they would postpone any talks until they see how he plays with Tyreke. But Tyreke natural position is SG and they might be interested in perhaps a Calderon deal?

    To Kings:

    Jose Calderon
    Amir Johnson
    2nd Round Pick

    To Raptors:

    Kevin Martin
    Kenny Thomas

No, no, no. We do not need Kevin Martin. Yes, he is a 3 point shooter but he is a crazy high volume shooter. It also doesnt help that he is injury-prone. Get a bench guy that can knock down threes. Belinelli was supposed to be that guy but i guess hes not.

Um, isn't Marco Belinelli supposed to be Colangelo's "sharp shooting SG"? If he can't be that, then what can he be? Also, where are the minutes going to come from, I'd say one of DeRozan or Belinelli will be moved if a trade for a SG who plans to play significant minutes happens.

my idea is send hedos pizza loving a** to the bench and try out derozan at the 3 even though its not his natural position, hes still 6'7 220 which is big enough for a SF and very athletic which would still provide athleticism and a slasher as well as sign kevn martin at the 2 which would give us another constant scoring threat even though he is a high volume shooter. that way, hedo and his 95 year old stagnant body could get more rest and provide some scoring depth from the bench ( even though he couldn't put a basketball into the grand canyon the way hes playing right now) thats just my opinion tell me what u think guys

I really think that Colangelo is strongly considering moving DD because he wants to win now and DD has one of the highest upsides then any player on the Raptors roster that the Raptors organisation are considered trading.

Although if you are considering trading DD, your new SG better be more then just an upgrade otherwise this trade won't matter much when DD will avg like 12 points a game for a coach who will actually play him in the fourth quarter.

I guess what I am trying to say is that this player better be something close to resembling Rip Hamilton for it to make a signfican't impact or just somehow make it to be Rip Hamilton.

I don't think DeRozan can play at the three yet. Whenever I've seen him there the Raptors look weaker defensively + on the backboards.

In the future, DeRozan should be able to play both wing positions at a good level. I just don't like it in the present tense.

Weems and DeRozan have looked good together on occasion. Since they are similar in size and style it doesn't seem to matter which one is the 3.

But that is a second unit pairing.

A starting SG would be great - just not another one at the same level as what we've got already!

And not some 3rd string guy who couldn't get a job this year or is a career back-up!
