  • Sixers extend Young and Hawes

The Sixers will tender qualifying offers to both Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes.

The qualifying offers can be extended any time now, but the team is expecting to get it done by the middle of this week. This is a slightly complicated process, but what happens is that once the Sixers tender each player a qualifying offer, the team earns the right to match any offer made to the player in the free agent market.

Beginning July 1, both Young and Hawes will become restricted free agents.

      Seriously?

I like Young and all, and I still think he has untapped potential but I wouldn't use those words.

Figured they'd do this. Would be silly of them NOT to at least issue the qualifying offer. These are two young, talented players.

I'm a big fan of Young. I like the energy he brings to the floor, and the skill set he's got at the 3. I'd take him in a HEARTBEAT for the #5 pick. That said, 'beast' might be pushing it. haha
