        Greatline was that he's not even the best Terrence out of Portland.

          • Lamb??? Aren't they re-signing Courtney Lee? A little surprised...

                Pfft. Ross will be better within his first 10 games than Joey Graham ever was.

                  • More on Terrence Ross from DraftExpress:

                    The defensive end may be the area where Ross has improved most as a sophomore, as he's been much more consistent in applying himself, being a real terror both on and off the ball. Ross' size and athleticism allow him to be a superb defender in isolation, and he's combined those tools with the aggressiveness needed this season. He plays right up into his man and moves his feet well to stay in front, but his excellent recovery speed allows him to frequently extend himself and still get back in time, making him a very disruptive force.

                    Ross shows similar ability defending his man off the ball, sticking with him all over the floor through screens and taking full advantage of his physical tools. He's a good team defender and really puts in the work on this end of the floor overall, something that coaches will surely find attractive when they start evaluating prospects come pre-draft time.

                      I think it has more to do with guess work. A big that they want is more likely to be available at 16 or 18 than a quality wing like Lamb will.

                      • johnhollinger: I had Ross 27th on my board. Not a fan of the pick and thought they could have traded down if that was their guy.

                          Maybe Dwayne Casey had influenced BC into drafting him...

                            I'm no dude. Ross is number 8 on Hollinger's Big Board, the one without Chad Ford"s input.

                            • From NBA.com:

                              Strengths:
                              * Good 3-point shooter with NBA range
                              * Explosive athleticism
                              * Good rebounder
                              * Good defender

                              Weaknesses:
                              * Has to get bigger and stronger

                              NBA projection:
                              Ross has been projected as a mid first-round pick. He’s got pro size, athleticism and range on his jump shot. He’ll be a tough cover in the NBA, especially if he can add some weight and strength.

                              2011-12 Season:
                              Ross was a first-team All-Pac-12 pick after leading Washington in scoring and ranking among league leaders in eight statistics: scoring (16.4, fourth), rebounding (6.4, sixth), offensive rebounds (5.1, third), free throw percentage (.766, 11th), steals (1.3, 12th), 3-PT FG makes (2.1, eighth), 3-point percentage (.371, 14th) and blocked shots (0.9, 13th).

                              Key statistics:
                              16.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, 2.0 tpg, 1.3 spg, 0.9 bpg, 31.1 mpg, .457 FG, .371 3PT, .774 FT

                              Cool statistic:
                              Ross was at his best in the postseason, averaging 25.0 points in four NIT games. He shot .405 from the 3-point line (.405) and was perfect (15 of 15) from the free-throw line.

                              Reminds me of:
                              MarShon Brooks

                              What Insiders Say:
                              Washington coach Lorenzo Romar
                              "When Terrence gets it rolling you almost have to send two guys at him to get the ball out of his hands. He can continue to back up because is range is so deep, and if you come up too far, then he can finish over the top of you or post you up. You have to keep him from getting going, because once he does you have to find some way to take the ball out of his hands."

                              Washington assistant coach Jim Shaw
                              "Really good players have an identity and they're known for something," Shaw told the Seattle Times. "For Terrence, when he's making shots that is his identity. Not that he's not a good player and he does other things, but that's still his identity."

                              • The only thing he has different than Rivers and Drummond is he is not a cancer in the locker room. A good defender and very good shooter who has touble creating his shot. A very good pick... and definitely not Rivers. Casey will love this kid. Relax and breath through your nose.
