Lithuania getting rattled by Croatia.
The kid looks good, by stats anyway. Hopefully that can translate, somewhat, in the NBA games. Good for him, though.

Bring this Katic guy to camp!![]()
Final score: Croatia 88 - 75 Lithuania
Jonas fouled out of the game with 19 points on 7/17 shooting and 5/6 on the line, 13 rebounds, including 5 offensive, and 5 blocks.
Bargnani is asked how he gets beat on the boards.
"Being lazy maybe," he says. "That's the only reason it can be. I've got the body, I've got everything to take 10 rebounds a game. It's just sometimes I get lazy."
Croatian Dario Saric, only 17 years old, put up a better stat line than JV today. 22 points on 9/14 shooting, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block.

Lets get some prespective folks, JV is dominating because he should be dominating, as a matter of fact he should be the best player in this U19 tournment bar none.
A glimpse of what this kid can do will hopefully come in the begining of Sept when he joins the men's national team for Eurocup.
fouling out in a close game isn't good news

One game that he fouls out in. Nothing to raise eyebrows over. He's a physical player and puts in dirty work and gets dirty work fouls. Better than standing there, arms sideways and not jumping. Rebound numbers are pretty solid. Blocks stat is insane. Once he gets in the NBA he'll work out the other stuff, with experience.

Also, keep in mind, these smaller guards have an advantage as being quicker and with multiple ways to get to the rim or shoot from outside. JV gets his points from the inside mostly.

Does anyone know the ranking of the teams in the tournament?

Jonas started off strong but his team went limp after the half. 8/18 is not bad compared to the 4/11 and 2/8 gems his teamates pulled in. He kept his team in it with his defensive presence, those 5 blocks kept it a lot closer than it shouldve been. his 5 off rebounds came a lot from missing putbacks, getting the rebound, and puttingback the putback. thats were his lofty feildgoal total came from aswell. Overall he was the best player on his team, he is extremely active under the basket, always moving, and has very good hands (good at finishing + catching and holding on to the ball). Im excited for the defensive presence Val and Ed will bring to our team.
The game was lost in the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter. In a short time Katic put 10 points on the board that were never answered. Jonas had a block party, but his teammates did not show up.
Also the kid did not get a rest till 8:30 in the 3rd quarter. He played every second of the 1st and 2nd quarters, IMO he started the game off on fire snatching every rebound. Looking like the most dominant player (by the stats), only to fizzle out towards the end. Most of those stats were gathered in the first half. A few minutes rest here and there would of been good, after all he is not a guard, he is a big man, and playing them too much is just asking for trouble.
