Have you seen the game? It was obvious. At one moment they were literally throwing bricks from foul line. Serbia has weaker frontline and Spain already know Serbia's game and beaten them in friendly games. It's just that Spain has only Gasol at the frontline and their coach does not want to risk, going against team with deep frontline in quarterfinals.
Say it isn't so, Jose. The basketball gods (they do exist) frown on this type of behaviour. It could come back to haunt Spain.

            • SI Top 100 NBA PLAYERS: Notable omissions

Jonas Valanciunas, Toronto Raptors (C, 21)
              2012-13 stats: 23.9 MPG, 8.9 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 55.7 FG%
2012-13 advanced stats: 15.6 PER, 3.9 Win Shares, -1.3 RAPM

Valanciunas would be locked into a top-100 spot if our list considered future seasons, but in his current form he barely missed the cut. All the same, there’s much to like in his growing game, and it’s possible that the second-year center (and reigning Summer League MVP) could improve quickly enough to make this omission glaring in retrospect. — RM

And Kleiza looks like the guy who gets killed at the 25-minute mark of the movie because he snuck into the shitter to eat a slice of pizza when he was supposed to be on guard duty.

                  • Man, anyone else watching the Spain game right now? They're absolutely slaughtering Serbia, and Sergio Rodriguez is showing off the best handles this side of an And1 mixtape.

When Ricky Rubio makes 3 pointer and Spain finishes 1st half with one more 3pointer you already know it's done.

Their offence and defence is crazy.

                        • Bizarro stat of the day for Spain: Marc Gasol had a relatively quiet game; 7 points (3/6 shooting, 1/2 FT) and 5 boards. But he was a ridiculous (and team-best) +40 in 22 minutes.

Against Italy 2 days ago, he went off for 32 and 10 on 11/19 (58%) shooting, drew 11 fouls, and went 9/12 from the line....and was a team-worst -19 in his 37 minutes.

Just goes to show how useful +/- stats are.

                          • Lithuania dodged a quarter final bullet in not having to play Spain until the final if both teams run the table.

Maybe quiet game in offensive, but not in defensive end. He's crazy.. Krstic have no chance to beat him tonight.

Very true, plus today he had 6 AST and vs. Italy he had zero. Still weird, though.
