Team of outsiders. Basically there are only 5 teams in that league which are really competitive, others are potential wins for Val's team. This one is not an exception.
L. Rytas wins 107-55.
JV with a big game:
Anyone aware of issues with JV's knees? He is wearing some clunky Bosh-like leg attire.
I love how JV just punishes inferior players. That should give him the confidence to play a really good game in the NBA even as a rookie. I'd love to see JV on the all-rookie team next year, or be a ROY candidate... doing that against the 2012 draft stud machine would be fantastic.
Palanga, the team they played, is hosted by a town of ~20,000 people. It's a seaside resort town. Pretty sleepy this time of year. So I wouldn't expect them to be able to pay the greatest players.
I do like the fact that JV seems to be the fastest person back to his end of the court on his team, even against a team of this calibre. I like to see that work ethic.
Another blowout win for L. Rytas - 106-65.
Certainly the competition can be questioned. However if we diminish JV's accomplishments against inferior competition, one must do the same when top players for UNC, Kentucky, Syracuse, etc. are playing against teams like Nicholls State, Elon, Mississippi Valley State, Radford, Portland, Samford, Loyola (MD), Manhattan, Bucknell, Fordham, etc.
Personally I think he would be top 5 (but I am biased). I would think top 10 for sure. Athletic 6'11"/7'0" with his skill set and motor are not common.
Good centers are rare, and everyone needs one. JV is possibly the second best center (next to Drummond) in the 2012 draft class. If the top 3 are Davis, Drummond and Barnes.. then JV could be 4th. However it also depends on what happens after the NCAA tournament where someone can get hot like Kidd-Gilchrist, Miller, Sullinger, Lamb, Jones, etc.
Those last three games were against Lithuanian league bottom teams, so right, not strongest opponents. Next year they are starting with 3 games against really strong teams. And looking to a further schedule, it seems to be filled with high level VTB and Eurocup games for them, especially since Eurocup reached second stage, where bottom teams were removed.
So JV still has chance to up his value for an upcoming fantasy draft, or screw it down
JV with another strong showing helping L. Rytas send Spartak of St. Petersberg, Russia home with their first loss of the season winning 72-61.
11 reb (4 offensive)
JV needs a little more lift in his jump. When he goes in for a dunk he's only a few inches off the floor.
What he needs are a pair of Jimmy's training shoes:
