  • It's a bandwidth thing. The site is down at least once a month, either for updates or because the bandwidth has exceeded it's limit. Apparently being an ESPN affiliate doesn't line RR staff's pockets with gold nuggets.

Knowing ESPN, we're probably on the lowest rung of supply..

      • @WolstatSun: Casey said development of Valanciunas will change offence quite a bit. Far more of focus. Not only just score out of low post to quarterback

        • Hope JV can out let pass like Tim Duncan someday would make for awesome easy buckets. Also Im a fan of more interior plays, no reason not to when we have Rudy, DeMar and JV able to abuse their respective positions down low.

DeMar actually showed some great post-up game last year. If he spent more time operating out of the block, he would've been a very efficient player.

Honestly, I would have no problem with DeMar if he never attempted a 3 pointer again in his career....as long as he made a concentrated effort to post up often.

              JONAS VALANCIUNAS
While Summer League play shouldn’t be read into too much, there’s no question that Valanciunas looks miles further in his development than last year. Taking home MVP honors, the Raptors big man nearly averaged a 20/10 line and dominated inferior competition with his newly-added bulk.

Defensively, he should be able to bang bodies with the toughest centers the East has to offer. He already showed incredible promise in his rookie season, and his increased size should only add to his interior presence.

At just 21 years old, I think we should temper expectations a little bit on Valanciunas. I do believe, however, that he’ll be a force to be reckoned with sooner rather than later.

Nice that JV is getting some recognition around the league and the interwebs.

Defensively, here are some predictions for Valanciunas:

                  Blocks: 2.3

                  Steals: 1.2

                  Rebounds: 8.4

                  Points: 15.7

Assists: 2.5 (he’s a better passer than his assist average from last year shows).

Field-goal percentage: 53.7 (his shooting percentage will naturally dip because the number of shots he'll take are a lock to increase).

                  • That author also said "...DeRozan, Gay and Lowry are all very capable defenders and rebounders..." so the whole article needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Having said that, the point of the article, that JV has higher expectations being put on him and will be expected to produce more is obviously right.

They are capable defenders. They just don't always do it consistently.
