Wonder if Sabonis is interested in playing on my oldtimers team. He would fit right in, except for being infinitely better.
Haha, and the 2 foot height advantage

"Anthony Davis was the No. 1 pick in the draft and picked up a gold medal at the London Olympics, but the most intriguing rookie in the East may be Jonas Valanciunas, above, a 6-foot-11 center from Lithuania. Drafted in 2011, Valanciunas could be a perfect complement to Andrea Bargnani, the Raptorsí most important player. The 20-year-old Valanciunas is thin, but he is an aggressive rebounder, and unlike many big men he is not a liability at the free-throw line."
Nice assessment. Surprised to see it in the NYT.

Can't wait to see JV go up against Hibbert tomorrow night. Hopefully the Raps can get out and run as there is no way Hibbert can keep up in the open court with JV.

I know! How many other big men can accelerate into a sprint in transition like JV does? Can't wait for tomorrow night, especially to see how he deals with a true low post threat who has size on him.

JV had some problems playing against bigger players in the past, it will be interesting to see ho he fairs against Roy ''Dr." Hibbert

Our guards need to start looking for Jonas more in transition. He's running hard, but isn't getting rewarded.

Let him get extended minutes with Jose and he will find him. Lowry is still getting familiar with all his teammates so there will be some adjustment there.

A lithuanian basketball site wrote that JV has set a personal goal for the season: to win the ROY trophy. I'm not sure it's really realistic though, but then again, aim for the stars if you fall short you will still land on the moon

Now that he's in a starting role, it is definitely a realistic possibility, although not likely (not much recognition, yada yada). Remember, most of the big name candidates are in the west (Lillard, Davis, Barnes) with better competition. Also, the C position is weak, with many PFs substituting for Cs.

The one thing that Jonas has going for him is that he plays on a (semi) competitive team. If the Raptors can push for the playoffs, Jonas could end up with more exposure than both Davis or Lillard.

But then again, it didn't matter for Kyrie Irving last year

I too was extremely impressed. Only the second raptor to do it in their debut game! Damon Stoudemire was the first! The mighty mouse!
