whoa did you guys know raptors republic favorite darrius morris is a FA? hello developmental PG?
@jerboat
alright heres my wishlist:
PG:
Nash
George Hill (at right price, tho im not sure the pacers let him go)
Darius Morris (like i said, as a developmental project, if we get Nash or keep Jose)
Uzoh (solid, solid 3rd pg)
SG:
Gordon (i still love you, baby)
Mayo (i wouldn't overpay for him though)
Courtney Lee (good bench dude)
Meeks (fantastic shooter, probably cheap)
Danny Green (i'll take Matt's word for it)
Reddick
SF:
Batum (duh)
Brandon Rush (love him, think he'd be a perfect fit for Casey)
AA (if he could come cheap)
PF:
literally the one position we don't need to really look at anyone, even if someone gets traded
C:
Asik
Gray
Ryan Hollins (big athletic body)
@jerboat
it'll be interesting because there's quite a few good players the raps can get in the bargain bin
@jerboat
good list.
right now mayo is at the top of my list. it was chandler then batum but both of those we wont be able to get. i can see us in a good position to get mayo. go clips.
nash would be great. didnt know morris was a free agent. i can see a 3 year minimum deal for him. he would be 3rd string to me and have to outplay number 2 for playing time though. asik would be our started if we got him. i am happy with gray and i think if he goes somewhere they will go with amir in the middle until a deal for either him or ed can be made.

I think Asik will land in Portland
Sign Steve Nash 3 year 30 million
Trade Calderon + J.Johnson and Sign Nicolas Batum 5 year / 50 million + Pick
Trade DeMar DeRozan + Andrea Bargnani to Charlotte for A.Davis (if they land him) + Gerald Henderson
Sign Vince Carter vet minimum
Draft Jeremy Lamb with our pick
Draft Damian Lilliard with Portland pick
Amnesty
Raps 2012-13 Lineups
Nash/Bayless/Lilliard/
Lamb/Carter/Henderson/2nd round pick (Kevin Murphy)
Batum/Kleiza/G.Forbes
A.Davis/E.Davis/Amir
Valanciunas/A.Gray/Magloire/2nd round pick (Robert Sacre)
Realistically we should and could do the following-
Sign Mickael Pietrus as a backup wing
release Jerryd Bayless
Pursue a trade with Denver for Wilson Chandler
Target JJ Redick as starting SG
trade DeRozan
sign AK47
Trade James Johnson
Resign Alan Anderson
leaving us with
PG - Calderon/Nash(pipe dream) - Marshall (draft) - Uzoh
SG - Redick - -Chandler -Pietrus - Anderson
SF - AK47 - Chandler - Kleiza - Anderson
PF - Bargnani - Davis - Kleiza - Chandler
C - Valanciunas - Gray - Magloire - Sacre (project)
This is a realistic obtainable lineup that can shoot the lights out and play tough defense. Of all these players Chandler would be the hardest to obtain.
This team would be good for 40 - 50 wins next season probably closer to 40 than 50 and good for 6th - 8th seed in the playoffs
if you start jj reddick and AK47 your team aint going no where besides 8th seed at most. This is a very bad idea
you don't see how having two lights out shooters on the wings and PF that can pass the ball would make for a very potent offense and having Pietrus Chandler and AK47 makes it very difficult for other teams to score. I think Redick is a true SG and ready for the spot light
Redick is a starting SG - Wilson Chandler can step in for AK47 after a few years
As far as I know my application is still pending for the GM position.
Everyone is in la la land about what we can do to improve the team. These are actual steps we COULD take.
I've watched a lot of Redick this season he is no longer just a catch and shoot 3pt specialist.
DeMar DeRozan is better in a lot of categories. But you don't build individuals you build a team. JJ Redick on the wing does a lot for floor spacing. AK47 on the other wing...same thing...Wilson Chandler off the bench...same thing.
Bargnani was on pace to average 23 and 7 before his leg blew up. Imagine what he could do if the wings kept the defense honest. And if Calderon or Nash or Marshall are your PG...you are in for a very potent offense. We can dream all we like about Anthony Davis, James Harden, OJ Mayo etc...but we should also be as realistic as possible.
Think for the future my friend. We're gonna be right back in this spot we are in now in 2-3 years once this happens.
Calderon and Nash are two point guards at the edge of their primes, who at some point will break down. You have to let a very potential ridden team grow.
PG - Calderon, Bayless, (Lillard/Marshall)
SG - Derozan, Forbes, (Beal/Lamb)
SF - J. Johnson, (MKG/Barnes/PJ3), Kleiza
PF - Bargnani, Davis, A. Johnson
C - Valanciunas, Gray, Magloire
^ This team is good enough for the 8 seed, and will only continue to get better. With this team, an 8th spot in the draft, and 12$ million in cap space. We could do better than Redick starting at shooting guard.
What you can try and do is trade up or out of the draft with the 8th spot. Pursue the free agency in O.J Mayo, Ersan Ilyasova, or Steve Nash. Amnesty/trade Amir/Ed and Kleiza. There are plenty of options to look at, which can create a much better team than you stated.
DeRozan vs Redick
3pt% 26% 42%
FG% 41% 43%
FT% 81% 91%
PPG 16.7 11.6
RPG 3.0 2.3
APG 2.0 2.5
Redick played on average 8 less minutes a game
your post is at least realistic (in reference to RaptorsReuben)
remember if we don't land Chandler, Redick would be a fantastic 6th man a role Bayless isn't keen on playing
