i am all for harris if we also get one of utahs' picks. harris is just another near 10 million expiring contract next year giving us a bunch of options after we see how the teams' makeup looks next year. either moving him at the deadline or letting him walk for more cash.
grabbing a contract and a pick would be a great deal for jose in my opinion. who cares what happens this year and next year harris can just as easily come off the bench like borbosa.
i also think that a good trade for jose means we probably wont be using our amnesty at all.
How old was Nash when he started to take over the league...30.. If he did it why can`t we assume the Jose could too. Isn`t he kinda starting that trend before our eyes...we don`t want to admit that what Jose is doing is legit or that he could be a late bloomer. Do not trade Jose for Nash. Not at this stage of Nash`s career.

if you start when they were both 24 nash has always been the better player.
i didn't say trade jose for nash i said trade jose if you are sure you can get nash or a really good pg prospect. i really don't think that jose has many superb years left. this year could be the year everything just happens to go right for him and we need to accept that. if he just keeps this up then all the better to him but his past history shows a player who goes through peaks and valleys. no reason that would all of a sudden change because he is older now.
nash has an amazing workout schedule to cope with his bad back. and takes summers off. jose plays high intensity basketball all year long.
remember 5 years ago how excited and happy we were that jose was looking like one of the best pgs in the league? that time has come back and we need to watch out because right after this time comes the calf injury and the down time and then the "why didn't we amnesty him" time.

If we could pull off a trade like this I would be thrilled. I've always been a fan of Devin Harris despite his struggles since joining the Jazz. Getting an additional unprotected pick from the Jazz would be icing on the cake. Going into a contract year next year i'm sure Devin will have lots to prove. He still has loads of talent and I think a change of scenery would suit him just fine. Sign me up!
If the pick is one of Utah's lottery picks I'd do it in a heartbeat. Too bad salary rules would have to apply.. I'd honestly take a bag of hotdogs if it means we don't have to pay Devin Harris for two more years.

I know Jose's been a really nice guy and very loyal to the organization, but ive come to realize that at the end of the day, the NBA is less basketball/camaraderie now and more of a business, so if it nets the Raps a high pick in expense of Jose then i think they really need to do it.
What im hoping for then later on is when Jose's contract expires, the Raps will offer him say 10mil for 5 years and he eventually retires as a Raptor and gets a job with the organization in player development or as a scout in europe.
Damn it. Cant link to it from my iPhone (I'm i-retarded) but we've talked about it already ad nauseum.
I don't think Calderon specifically asked to be traded. He was asked by some Spanish media (I think) about his feelings "IF" he was traded to a contender, and like any normal human being, Calderon said he would embrace it....or something along those lines. He didn't exactly pull a Dwight Howard.

I think maybe he was suggesting $2M/per for 5. Which I think is too low, but I agree with the principle. If Toronto could have Calderon starting next year and possibly the following year, while grooming a younger point, and if he'd sign for MLE-type money over a 3-year contract, I would be all for that.
Definition of Statistics: The science of producing unreliable facts from reliable figures.
This is not factual. He said he would like to play on a contending team. Didn't mention it being a different team and that quote was a very small clip from a longer interview in Spanish and could have been taken completely out of context and translated poorly. He has never been the type to ask for anything but rather he has done whatever the team has asked of him without complaint. It doesn't seem likely that given that he has volunteered to be a bench player on two separate occasions for the good of the team that he all of a sudden would come out and demand a trade does it? Devin Harris is a terrible fit for the Raptors and I like Jose on the team and think he could have a role in the rebuild as a mentor/back up PG for a young developing guard. Also I haven't seen a thing on Myck all season and didn't think he was projected to go nearly as high as 11 or 12 more like late 20's or second round, does anyone have any info to the contrary?
I think you nailed it all:
- he didn't ask to be traded. Question asked was would he like to play for a contender - if he said no there would be a bigger problem.
- Devin Harris straight up for Calderon is an awful deal.
- Myck is definitely not a 11/12 pick. The lowest I saw him was around 15-17 and that was weeks ago at DraftExpress. They currently dropped him from the 2012 mock draft.
