    Default Who's in your list?

Since February I've been looking at draft prospects (I do this every year) and knowing that Raptors have 8th pick, I have narrowed my list down to 5 players. Now my selection is based on TALENT/NEED/PROJECTION. Here are my top 5 players that I think Raptors should draft/target.

    Top 5:
    1. Damian Lillard (Best Case: Tony Parker/Jrue Holiday | Worst Case: Jerryd Bayless | At the Moment: Devin Harris)
    2. Harrison Barnes (Best Case: Luol Deng/Wilson Chandler | Worst Case: Marvin Williams | At the Moment: Dorell Wright)
    3. Dion Waiters (Best Case: Rodney Stuckey | Worst Case: Smush Parker | At the Moment: Randy Foye)
    4. Bradley Beal (Best Case: Eric Gordon | Worst Case: Jordan Crawford | At the Moment: Marcus Thornton)
    5. Austin Rivers (Best Case: Jamaal Crawford/Monta Ellis | Worst Case: Jodie Meeks | At the Moment: OJ Mayo)

    Potential Disasters:
    1. Jared Sullinger (Best Case: Carlos Boozer | Worst Case: Derrick Caracter | At the Moment: Glen Davis)
    2. Perry Jones III (Best Case: Between Rudy Gay (not as good shooting) and Josh Smith (not as good defensively) | Worst Case: Anthony Randolph | At the Moment: Al Harrington)
    3. Jeremy Lamb (Best Case: Kevin Martin/Richard Hamilton | Worst Case: Rashad McCants | At the Moment: Marco Belinelli)

    'Don't care' Pile:
    1. Kendall Marshall (Best Case: Andre Miller | Worst Case: Beno Udrih | At the Moment: Jose Calderon)
    2. Terrence Ross (Best Case: Jason Richardson | Worst Case: Jeremy Richardson | At the Moment: Terrence Williams)

    BONUS!
    2nd Round Sleepers:
    1. Jae Crowder (Best Case: Ron Artest | Worst Case: Sam Young | At the Moment: Mickael Pietrus)
    2. Scott Machado (Best Case: Ramon Sessions | Worst Case: Anthony Carter | At the Moment: Earl Watson)
    3. Kim English (Best Case: Jodie Meeks | Worst Case: Robert Vaden | At the Moment: Daequan Cook)

    Who's on your radar?

    I stopped reading here:

" 5. Austin Rivers (Best Case: Jamaal Crawford/Monta Ellis | Worst Case: Jodie Meeks | At the Moment: OJ "

Scouts are predicting Rivers cieling is Oj Mayo. How could he be oj mayo right now ???

I feel like everything you posted has already bee beaten to death by every mock daft out there. This "idea" could havejust went in the draft thread imo. Notonly that but your predictions arnt very accurate.

Don't let the haters discourage you. Again, great work by an RR reader. When I come on this site all I am looking for is someone's opinion to read. Thanks for your take.

I really hope we take a swing with Jae Crowder if we can snag him in the second.

Top 5. (All my Opinion based on potential talent)

    The 8th selection -

    1. Perry Jones III

    2. Austin Rivers

    3. Damian Lillard

    4. Jeremy Lamb

    5. Dion Waiters

My first is actually tied between Austin Rivers and Perry Jones III. If you have questions why or why not, than ask.

    TRoss

    On the bubble:
KMarshall (hell if your comparisons were accurate he would be a slam dunk for me)
    MHarkless

    Avoiding/scared of:
    MKG
    PJIII
    JLamb
    Sullinger

    2nd round:

I don't expect Quincy to be in the second round to be honest, it's just a feeling I have.

I also totally forgot about Terrence Jones, I am a big fan of his game.

There is tons of opinions on here. Just makes more sense to keep draft threads like "My top 5" in the draft thread. Otherwise the forum board gets filled with the same topics over... and over... and over.

Isn't Crowder a 6'3 PF or something? I know I've said size isn't everything before but yeeeeeeeeeesh.

He'll be a SF at the NBA level. At the combine he measured 6'6.5 in shoes, yet at the previous measurement he was about 6'5. Lots of inconsistency there, so any team that works him out will probably want to take their own measurements. Definitely not 6'3 though.

He'll still be a bit undersized height-wise, but he's got above average speed, incredible strength (best bench-press score of any player in the combine this year), huge hands, average leaping ability despite his lack of height. He was a PF in college not because he lacked SF skills, but because he had the physical strength to dominate much taller PFs at both ends of the court. Obviously that won't hold true in the NBA. His jump-shot form and shot selection, as well as his excellent assist to turnover ratio all suggest that he could be a solid wing player. Definitely not a guy who can create his own shot, but he's smart and scrappy.

I still like the idea of the Raptors drafting a shooting specialist in the second round, but I think Crowder's got a solid shot of being an NBA role-player.

So he's like a SF version of Faried?

That's not a bad comparison from what I've seen. They play the game with the same sort of all-out intensity and physicality, and neither of them need to have the ball to have a big impact. But Crowder doesn't have a single skill to hang his hat on, the way that Faried can make a career out of his rebounding ability. It'll be a longer road for Crowder to adapt to the NBA.

I actually think there's a lot of similarities between him and the point Kleiza was at coming into the NBA... tough as nails competitor, very good IQ, loves contact, showed signs of being a decent 3-point shooter but needed to build that skill a lot. Both were undersized for PF (in Kleiza's case slightly, in Crowder's case tremendously), and it was questioned whether they had the athleticism to play SF in the NBA. Differences would be that Kleiza had more shot-creation ability than Crowder has, and Crowder is a much better defender.
