I will laugh when Wroten Jr supplants him as the number 2 PG behind Conley. I bet Memphis wants to play him at SG to replace Mayo, as the offensive half of their SG tandem with Tony Allen.
I was hoping Bayless would be part of a bigger package of players sent to Memphis to land Rudy Gay. :-(

A report earlier today did say that Memphis had turned their attention to 2nd tier free agents. I'm surprised that he has signed with them to likely be a SG at least half time (maybe PG more to start, until Wroten proves he's ready), given all his talk this past season about being a PG and only a PG.
From the Raptors perspective, I'm a little upset they didn't get anything in return, via a S&T... especially since Memphis is not only over the cap, but right at over over the luxury tax limit (after re-signing Speights and Arthur).

i agree he shouldn't be giving things away but in this case he didn't. he originally tendered the qo to keep bayless' rights to set up a sign and trade or to sign him later. as these past 11 days have played out no one wants to sign bayless to at least 4.whatever million per year, so bc did the best thing for the raptors and rescinded the offer, making bayless an ufa. at this point he is no longer an asset of the raptors and unless some team who in the previous 11 days didn't want to pay more then the qo all of a sudden wanted to, the sign and trade is back in business.
without the years and figures we really don't know whats happening but with memphis already at the cap it is reasonable to expect either them dropping some assets or bayless signed a minimum contract.
Memphis keeps tacking on the luxury tax dollars.

I did like some of what Ben brought, too bad he can't shoot with range, otherwise he would be a lock. He guarded his position well and seemed to move the ball and get team-mates involved, but his low free throw shooting and field goal percentage are probably causing the team to look at other options.
The fact that this trade happened is in no way an indication that BC didn't try something. You need a willing partner for a trade to happen. Maybe Memphis didn't want to give up anything for Bayless and were happy to just fork over whatever cash they did. You think he didn't get a S&T because he just forgot about it?
Going to miss him.
It's probably for the best he not have to deal with the undue Hatred from Raptors fans.
Some will find a reason or two to Boo him I'm sure, everytime he comes back to ACC tho .. just like every other EX Raptor.

Thats the beauty of having Wroten Jr has your backup PG .. you can play a little guy like Bayless at backup SG and then switch on D.
I like what Memphis is doing this off-season .. I think they could be scary. Lets not forget Zbo missed almost the full year and they never really got a groove going once he got back last year ..
