When he camps at the 3pt line for an open catch-and-shoot, he's effective. When he's forced to play DeRozan's game, which is bound to leave him with more (all?) contested shots, he's less effective. In other words, accept what he is (3&D wing) and play to his strengths.
To expect him to be more than he is just sets unfair expectations on the young man, while setting him up for failure.
