  • Tor-Dal-Min-Phi Deal

    ESPN Trade Machine: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6qt4dtm

    To Dallas
    - Calderon

    To Minnesota
    - Carter
    - $2M to buyout Carter (from Toronto)
    - Sacramento's 2013 2nd round pick (from Toronto)

    To Philadelphia
    - Amir*
    - Beaubois
    - Zubcic (his rights)
    - Memphis' 2013 1st round pick (from Minnesota)
    - Toronto's 2013 2nd round pick (from Toronto)

    To Toronto
    - Iguodala
    - Ridnour
    - Jones

    * another option would be to include Davis & DeRozan, instead of Amir

    -----

    Dallas
    - they get Calderon to start at PG for the veteran team, allowing Collison to play/develop with the 2nd unit
    - by adding Calderon (expiring contract) and unloading Carter (2 year contract), they improve cap flexibility for 2013, when they are expected to be major players in free agency
    - Beaubois (Calderon/Collison) and Jones (Mayo/Dom.Jones/Cunningham) were made expendable and were required for salary matching purposes

    Minnesota
    - they unload their 2yr/$8.3M 4th string PG (Rubio/Barea/Shved) as a pure cap dump, since Toronto would provide the $2M to buyout Carter
    - they get an early 2nd round pick along with the cap dump, so they giveup a late 1st round pick (from Memphis) in return

    Philadelphia
    - they get a good young PF (Amir) and a good young backup PG (Beaubois), which addresses their two most pressing needs, while dumping Iggy's contract and clearing up their wing logjam (Thad Young, Wright, Harkless, Nick Young, Turner)
    - they get a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and rights to another 2nd round pick (Zubcic)
    - they would also get a $6.5M TPE, as a result of the trade

    Toronto
    - they get a starting SF and backup PG, which addresses their two most pressing needs
    - they also add a defensive-minded veteran wing, on an expiring contract (should get playing time on the 2nd unit when they go with a small lineup or with a defensive lineup)
