39.3 last year is pretty darn close

If he is good enough for contenders third string surely he is good enough for the raps, no? That was all I meant.
39.3% is actually his 3pt shooting and 40.4 2pt. He is consistent!

I'll take a 39% beyond the arc shooter any day. Korver a long range specialist was at 43.5 last year....but more one dimensional and Jamal Crawford 31%.

Sorry but Jose's poor attitude would ruin this situation making Lucas the better fit. Every time Jose is made the backup he sulks and pouts and manipulates his teammates and talks about how with his big contract he should be the starter.
Sorry, but his time is up.
You +1'ed your own statement. Must be thought when your assertions are asinine. Back up in Europe LOL

Wanting to be a top-tier point guard is different than being known as a back-up point guard.

His performances this past season pre-injury granted him a top 10 spot. He's not a top-tier point guard yet, and he's not a back-up point guard. I would put him in the second tier of point guards such as Jennings, Curry, Irving, LOWRY, John Wall, Rubio...
And that's where he puts himself.

I'm with you. My favorite Raptor of all time. If he goes everybody will quickly realize just how good he is. Jose Calderon is definitely not the reason why the Raptors have struggled so bad in the last few years. Wish he could stay but don't blame him for wanting to start...he deserves it.
As much as I want Calderon to be a Raptor, I feel like this isn't where he can ever be at maximum efficiency. Calderon would show that he's a better point guard if he's on a team that is filled with shooters and all-stars. Sorta like the Heat or Lakers. If he was surrounded by better shooters and better players, I think Calderon can actually average more assists than he does right now as a Raptor.

Totally disagree. I think that if you put him on the Heat, they would end up losing more games than not. He's a cancer, plain and simple.

                  • As I've previously stated, I don't think John Lucas III is gonna be a good enough back-up PG to Lowry. It worries me if Lowry gets injured and we're stuck with Lucas as our starting PG. That's a scary thought. Lowry-Calderon is a bit safer and better than Lowry-Lucas. Also, Lucas is 29 years old, so there's no real potential to get better. So I think how well he plays now is as good as he gets. I think Lucas is more of a third-string point guard. So I don't think he's worth about $2.5 million per year.

Lucas will be better in the locker room and community, and he'll be a better teammate. Not to mention the upgrade in athleticism. Well worth not having Jose around. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

                      • Are we seriously arguing over who is the better backup PG between Jose Calderon and Lucas III???
