The live chat sometimes had dozens of users during the Bosh years when the team didn't completely suck. During the last ball game, there was nobody in the chat. Usually the room is started up late, and this is no doubt a part of the problem. It should be started at least 5 minutes before tipoff. Some people say it isn't compatible with their mobile devices and so forth, and this might be correctable. One option I thought of was to create a permanent Freenode channel. Every mobile device has an IRC app right? The channel would need a bot to stay open all the time, which would mean someone would have to create and maintain that.
Anyway, if it's not going to be improved it should be killed off entirely. But I can assure those of you that use this forum to chat during a game that it isn't as good as a live chat. Posting to the db and refreshing takes more time and doesn't allow for the same kind of commentary. Maybe there's some non-IRC way of doing this.
