  • Who will be the 15th Raptor?

Lowry, Calderon, Lucas, DeRozan, Ross, Anderson, Fields, Kleiza, Johnson, Bargnani, Davis, Valanciunas, Gray, Acy.

Those 14 seems like sure bets as all have guaranteed contracts.

Magloire, McGuire, Wright, and McNeal on the other hand are not guaranteed but Magloire and McGuire have money coming regardless of what happens by the opening tip on October 31st.

So who do you think is occupying the 15th roster spot?

I will be shocked if it is not one of Dominic McGuire or Jamaal Magloire.

Magloire offers the veteran leadership that we hear so much about, while Dominic McGuire offers the ability to defend 4 positions on the court. My thinking is that McGuire currently has the edge over Magloire for a few different reasons:

        1) Plenty of rumors persist that Magloire would stick around within the organization in some sort of coaching capacity. Therefore still having his recent experience and veteran leadership around the team.

        2) Our front-court depth gives us more variety then our wings allow for currently, whereas McGuire adds a defensive specialist on our wing that we would not otherwise have.

        3) Casey said the following in talking about Bargnani today:
"He's moving strong with the ball. He's got (small forward) Dom McGuire going at him and he's going to face a lot of guys like that this year, we have to get him used to going against those 6-8, 6-9 guys that are quick and physical."
http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=406679 If this is something that they are wanting Bargnani to be focusing on this year then it makes sense that McGuire will be kept around.

Dom let it slip that he has a guaranteed contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if Magloire made it (they need a Canadian because of the hockey lockout to grab some more fans)

It'll buckle down to Magloire and McGuire. Going from a need for more experience in the locker room, and someone to help the young big men in Acy, Ed, and JV, I would like to see Magloire come back.

Although, McGuire is a really good defender, being a perfect Casey fit, who knows?

i think acy and mcguire are guys casey and bc brought in to bring practices to a new level, make certain players work that much harder at each facet of their game. probably won't see much of them ever come actual gametime unless there's injuries.

I don't think that matters to Casey. If Magloire makes this team it will say a lot about JV's injury. That it's more severe than it's being made out to be.

I hope we get Mcguire and Magloire signs as a coach or something.

Maguire also because he is a great practice guy to get the starters used to having a great defender on them.

Will it be anyone? BC has been known to only keep 14 on the roster just for some flexibility. In case of a 1 for 2 or 2 for 3 trade, if we have 15 guys on the roster may be tough to make it work.

Wasn't there rumblings about Acy going down to D-League so he could actually play games. That would mean McGuire and Magloire both making it. Magloire can ride the pine in a suit all year, where as having Acy doing it is a waste of a development year.
