... actually Marc Stein says that there will unlikely be a deal:
All signals continue to point to NO extension for Raps' DeRozan before midnight buzzer. 10 hours to go & two sources say again: "Not likely"

Sorry for the new forum thread.. I just assumed a deal was going to happen.
Whatever happens, I hope it isn't a distraction for tonight's game.

4 years 30 mill? i'm just throwing shit out there
$34Mhttp://www.torontosun.com/2012/10/31...sion-after-all
Sources on both sides would not guarantee that a deal would get done, but it appeared far more likely than not that the swingman would receive a new deal worth at least $34 million.
$8.5M per year.

isnt that reasonable? for 4 year it doesn't look bad.
Stein's tweet is older than Wojnarowski's. So it doesn't contradict it. We'll know by midnight, I guess.
Or sooner! I just read Matt's post. Not the worst deal in the world, if it comes true.

Ryan wolstat says there's a 25 percent chance is DOESN'T happen. Too bad.
i mean 75% lol. Stupid edit wont work
I wouldn't pay him more than Fields
thats a 65% chance it will. Y'all need to put more faith in DeMar, he's going to be big time.
DeMar isn't even a better player than O.J. Mayo. Who is getting payed only $4 million. Very underrated!
If DeRozan gets anything over $7 mil a year I'm going to officially transition into one of those annoying Colangelo haters in the article comment sections. I mean it this time!

So why did Memphis just let him walk? And with all the teams looking for scoring from the wings, how is it the best his agent can come up with is $4 million. He's not underrated, everybody knows what he can do. But what scares people away?
[QUOTE=Michel G;158738] I disagree, I think he's very under-appreciated for the skills that he possesses. Which is scoring, handling the ball, 3pt shooting and overall shooting, the ability to facilitate, and most importantly a great defender. Only negatives I can think of is his inefficiency, size, and a 'habit' of taking bad shots, but then again, so does DeMar.
He is a good all-around player, the same could absolutely not be said for DeRozan.
Memphis let him walk because they couldn't afford to keep him.
As for what scares people away? I dunno, you tell me? Why? I absolutely have no idea. I would swap DeMar for Mayo in a heartbeat.
Money had nothing to do with Memphis not keeping Mayo. They gave Bayless $3 million to replace him, just a million less. Memphis did not want him and the rest of the league did not bid for him. There has to be a reason. I don't know what it is? I'm not hating on the guy. It's just when GMs shy away from making a long-term commitment to a player, there are reasons that the casual fan might not know. Dallas needs him to score, so it's a good situation for him.
