like, you know in starsky and hutch when stiller tries to pretend to play Russian roulette with the Asian dude but the bullet ends up falling back into the gun without him knowing? then everyone's terrified cause hes playing with live ammo and doesn't even know it?
that's the scene i immediately thought of when i heard about the deal.
@jerboat
Can a poll be added to this thread on whether or not it was a good signing? Curious to see the results, but I won't be surprised.
And I was scared BryCo would give DeMar a 4 year $30M extension... What was I thinking?
I don't understand why BryCo did not pursue Nicolas Batum much, much harder this past Summerr. I would much prefer Nicolas Batum at $14M per year plus a $2M a year scrub than the contracts he gave to Fields and DeRozan. Batum is a very good player with a realistic chance at becoming a star.
Seriously.
Maybe BC knows something we don't?
Haha I kinda felt bad for Landry, he was super unlucky tonight. He had an and-1 that didn't count because of a bullshit travel call, had another bucket reversed because of an off the ball foul, then that time he got mugged but it was a no call. Still doesn't make up for his horrid game however
Derozan just better live up to his contract and just beast it.
I'll take Demar for $9.5M a year over Harden for $16M/per. Dude just got $80M over 5.
Demars deal is fine. People were all freaked out over Bargnani's deal, and you don't hear too much complaining now.

This team now has about $27 million a year tied up in a stretch 4 and two backup shooting guards who can't shoot. Think about that for a minute. What's the future here? This deal gets worse the more I think about it.
Harden went off for 37pts 12ast 6rbs 4stl
derozen went off for 10pts 5rbs
dont like Hardens deal but if he keeps playing like tonight it looks fair
derozen needs to step it up
on a side note: Lowry was ballin tonight aswell 21pts 8ast 7rbs 5stl... cant wait to see those triple doubles pile up this season from Kyle... & Big Val was Solid too...couldnt ask much more from a Rookie Big in his first game...

So officially it's $38M over four years, which works out to 9.5 per year. Consider that George Hill's contract is 5 years at $8 million per year. That's equivalent in my opinion due to the extra year and is George Hill really as good or have as much potential as Derozan? Also Taj Gibson just got the exact same deal as Derozan. I know he's a great defender and 6th man but the guy is not even a starter, and his stats are actually quite underwhelming. Also, Thad Young was signed last year to 5 years at 8.5 per year. I think Derozan is worth a million more than him, and we've got a shorter commitment at 4 years.
So I guess my point is that given the current market rates, is Derozan's contract as ludicrous as everyone is saying? I think it's a more fair deal than people think.
And I know that OJ Mayo has a much friendlier contract than Derozan and is arguably a better player but I would argue that his contract is definitely below market value so it's really not a good comparable.
I think people need to chill out a bit.
10$ million a year? Hmmmm. I'm a Derozan homer, but I felt we should've waited till the off-season to match anything that comes at him. Although, that means it would come with the distractions.
I knew all game that Derozan was NOT gonna play amazing tonight. Only because of the fact they have one hell of a packed paint, making it hard for Derozan to attack if those guys are already in position.
Happy that Derozan got extended, a little disappointed with the contract.
