  • Could Lowry lead the Raptors in rebounding???

Lowry has been a beast on the boards. He currently leads in RPG for the Raps!

    Player RPG
    Kyle Lowry 7.3
    Jonas Valanciunas 5.7
    Amir Johnson 5.3
    DeMar DeRozan 5
    Ed Davis 4
    Landry Fields 3.3
    Aaron Gray 2.5
    Andrea Bargnani 2.3

Do you think that he could lead over the course of a season? It's not unheard of... I remember Jason Kidd doing it...

I think that Jonas would be his only threat.

Of course, Lowry could drop off, but I hope not. He's playing so well!

Like you mentioned, I see Lowry's totals dropping, and Jonas' totals climbing as the season progresses.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Lowry finishes the year as the best rebounding PG in the league (if not Rondo or Westbrook).

I think you said it best, Jonas would be his only threat and if he gets more playing time than he's seen in the first 3 contests (19 min/game) and something more like 30 min/game then he'll definitely be averaging 8+ rebounds. he just needs to stay out of foul trouble and develop a more consistent low post defense, whatever offense we get from Valanciunas is a bonus, he's a work-in-progress in that area.

Something tells me that the guy who will lead the team in rebounding is not on the team yet.

As has been noted elsewhere, the guards collecting rebounds is at least partly attributable to the bigs doing a better job of boxing out. JV in particular has been playing against stronger centres. His best strategy is to box them out, not battle with them for a rebound, at least at this point in his development.

Even more sad that the undersized point guard is averaging 3x more than our 7 ft PF.

A little confused about Jonas' regression after a solid debut. However I think he'll be the rebounding leader followed by Mr Braveheart Lowry. Unless we acquire a rebounding specialist during the season of course.

Folks really have to stop the anti-Bargnani stuff. He is exactly what we know he is. A scorer with a decent man to man defense. Although better (with effort...) his help defense will never be great. His rebounds will likely stick at around 5 or 6 when all is said and done. It is what it is...please stop this morbid complaining...

Oh, and have a nice day!

                              glad we agree there.

                              since we agree so much...

Surely you must find it unacceptable for such a player to be a starter as opposed to coming off the bench.
