  • Potential trade destinations for Lowry: Dec.12 - NY a match?

I noticed we had similar threads for Gay & DeRozan, but not for Lowry. I'm not putting together trade proposals for each possible team, but wanted to review all potential playoff teams and see who might have need for a scoring PG on an expiring contract.

    WESTERN CONFERENCE
    San Antonio - Parker, Mills
    Oklahoma City - Westbrook, Jackson/Fisher
    Golden State - Curry, Douglas
    LA Clippers - Paul, Collison
    Houston - Beverly, Lin/Brooks
    Portland - Lillard, Williams/Watson
    Dallas - Calderon, Harris
    Minnesota - Rubio, Barrea/Sved
    Memphis - Conley, Bayless
    Denver - Lawson, Miller/Robinson
    LA Lakers - Nash, Blake

    EASTERN CONFERENCE
    Miami - Chalmers, Cole
    Indiana - Hill, Watson
    Chicago - Heinrich, Teague
    Atlanta - Teague, Schroeder
    Brooklyn - Williams, Livingston
    Washington - Wall, Maynor
    Charlotte - Walker, Sessions
    Detroit - Jennings, Bynum

I don't see any teams that could use Lowry as their starter, barring injury. However, there are a few teams that could arguably use Lowry as an upgrade at the backup PG spot:

    San Antonio (Mills)
    Oklahoma City (Jackson/Fisher)
    Golden State (Douglas)
    Indiana (Watson)
    Washington (Maynor)

Using this as a starting point, I'd be curious to get other thoughts and possible trade ideas for potential suitors. Given the list, I could see MU holding onto Lowry right up until the deadline, hoping for an injury to boost his demand and, therefore, his trade value.

I'd add Portland and Brooklyn to the teams that could use a backup boost. Brooklyn just to stay afloat and Portland because they are suddenly competing.

For some reason I think OKC would be a good fit... Lowry is a UFA so his contract is manageable and from a money point of view it makes sense. OKC also has two potential picks (their own and Dallas' which is top 20 protected and right now they are the 8th best team so the protection wouldn't stand).

They could use Martin's TPE so no players have to be sent back. OKC values their picks though.. but hard to pass up on a legit backup PG for a system that actually works for them considering how Westbrook plays the point.

I also like Milwaukee as a suitor... they lost Jennings, and were going after Teague (and missed out on him).

If we could somehow make Lakers work.. I think we can all agree that Nash is done, and Farmar is out for a month+.. they could definitely use him.

I was thinking OKC could be interested, either using the TPE or Perkins, but they'd need a big body back at some point (either with Lowry or in a subsequent deal).

Hahaha, why don't you add Westbrook and Durant to your list of players coming to Toronto while off loading Acy You really think UM can make Amir+Lowry+Gay into the following:
                Kendrick Perkins (OKC)
                Goran Dragic (PHO)
                Channing Frye (PHO)
                Thabo Sefalosha (OKC)
                Reggie Jackson (OKC)

If he does, they should give him the GM of the year award for next 7 years.

Well you did see what did with Carmelo... Obviously he won't make them this good but something to a lesser degree

Dallas, Memphis, NYK, BrkLyn, Chi, Mil. Lakers seem to be possibilities to me.

Dallas: Calderon seems to be having leg/ankle problems with some frequency
Memphis: Would be an upgrade on Bayless
NYK: Lowry could actually start there (Felton faltering)
                      Brklyn: Who knows with Deron
Chi.: Mike James is the curr. bkup over Teague. Is Heinrich out of position at starting pg?
Mil.: Is Ridnour back on the court...depth if they want to push for a playoff spot
Lakers: Would they want Nash insurance?

What comes back is anyone's guess. Expirings and a high 2nd in this draft on a standalone deal would be acceptable. Could get more if leveraged in a multiplayer swap.

I seriously doubt the Knicks pick up any phone call with a 416 area code

Didn't Barg have 6 blocks with 7 rebounds on sunday?
                          "Bruno?
Heh, if he is in the D-league still in a few years I will be surprised.

I seriously doubt a team gives up something of value for a 4 month rental.

                              Minnesota is interesting.

Lowry's best years were with Adelman.

The Wolves have 3 second round picks (own, GSW, Pelicans).

                              Barea/2nd rounders for Lowry works.

Barea has another year under contract as well.
