Three years at $8m per year is probably lowballing it. I'd expect Lowry to re-sign for $9m a year at least; the Lakers will be able to easily manage that, if nothing else.
The Lakers already have to pay Nash $9.7M next year, and they have holes at nearly every position. I don't think it's a forgone conclusion they even make an offer to Lowry, let alone a $9M per year offer. Does LA want $18.7M tied up in the PG position, when the only other player under contract is Kobe at $23.5M? I think they'll spend money on C, PF, and SF before they spend it on PG.

Kenneth Faried's name is coming up everywhere as being available in a trade. What would it take to get him? I have no clear idea of what Denver wants to do...compete, tank?
I think they are too good to tank. It's too late this year, and long term they'll probably add a healthy Gallinari and possibly a lottery rookie, so they'll be too good to tank too.

They should look for a center. A 3 team deal with Detroit, Milwaukee or Houston? They get Monroe, Sanders or Asik. Not sure there's something in that for Toronto.

        Conley/Dragic/Teague comparable.... I agree.

        That is fair.
We could always front load any deal for Lowry too. Say the deal is for 4 years 32million. I wouldn't pay him 8 each year but something along the lines of 10,8,8,6 would make sense. Makes him easier to move if required when he's older and we save 2 million in salary when we are hopefully in buy mode.
Sunny ways my friends, sunny ways
        Because its 2015

If the Raptors can get Lowry for $21 million over three years, and keep him from feeling slighted at the same time, then it's a slam dunk deal.
If they can get him for that, I doubt we have to wait for July to find out, because they can offer that now via extension.

          A) I'd bet he ends up with a 4 year deal, at least, not a 3 year deal.
          B) I'd peg 8M per year as his absolute minimum.

The most you can back or front load is 7.5% per year. So the maximum frontload is more like 9.1M, 8.4M, 7.6M, 6.9M for a 4/32 deal. Also note that "when we are in buy mode" will be summer of 2015, so in the second year of his deal, so backloading clears cap space that year and frontloading actually eats into it.

Denver wants flexibility. They're capped out for the next three years because of their contract structure and, injuries this season aside, it's clear that the team needs reworking; they probably don't have to tank because there's a lot of talent still on the team, but the pieces don't fit with each other or the coach. Denver probably wants A) expirings and B) their own list of players they think are good fits.

We need a backup centre, not a starter who's going to get pissed when Jonas gets minutes. Chris Kaman is probably our best bet, and if the Lakers manage to trade Pau Gasol like they want to do then we can probably get Kaman off the Lakers for cash and/or Dwight Buycks because at that point they're out of luxury tax territory (and more importantly, the repeater tax).

He was talking about the Nuggets. Could not have been more obvious.
                    "Bruno?
Heh, if he is in the D-league still in a few years I will be surprised.

Well obviously it COULD have been!

                      Anyways:

Houston sends: Jeremy Lin, Donatas Motiejunas, and Robert Covington
Toronto sends: Steve Novak, Greivis Vasquez, Tyler Hansbrough and Austin Daye

Houston gets rid of Lin's poison-pill contract and picks up Vasquez, the original Mr. Assist, for a team that's fifth-last in assist rate in the NBA and needs a pass-first PG desperately, plus they get Hansbrough (a foul-drawing specialist big) and two shooters. Toronto gets the bench scorer they need who can work with Lowry much the same way Vasquez did, except Lin is better, as well as picking up D-Mo to replace Hansbrough and who should play well alongside Jonas.

A lot of NBA writers I really enjoy can't seem to shake the idea that Lowry is possibly on the move.

Is there a serious case of denial going on? Can they not adapt to new information/circumstances/situations?

Anyways, the latest is Sam Amico: http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/...com:hoopsonfox

Or is it really where there is smoke there is fire?

Love this deal... but I saw Morey's interview few weeks ago and he told that rockets r receiving lots of calls for Motiejunas, but prefer to keep him.

He also said he was going to trade Asik by a fake deadline he pulled out of his ass. If they expect to trade Lin or Asik they better be prepared to give up DM.

right. In the same interview he said that Asik will remain a rocket.. egh. you never know, GMs becoming true brain-washing machines.
