Raptorsnz wrote: View PostIf it was detrimental cockiness as well that goes against everything we've heard about the Raptors locker room with how close they are. Maybe Jonas just drunk txted some players, you know what they say: drunken words are sober thoughts
"You guys see what happens when you get me the ball?"
With that Casey said:
"Time to put him in line!"

In addition to what mcHappy said. Kobe, Shaq, Barkley, Bird, Magic.... The list goes on and on. The best players usually have an edge.
And people seem to forget that JV was turning the ball over 5 and 6 times a game against the Nets those first two games. Trying to feed the ball to the post and JV's handling of the ball was a big reason why our turnovers spiked. He was jawing with the officials, and giving up ticky tack fouls as a result. And his rotations were either wrong or late whenever they doubled JJ. Is that your idea of 'a monster game?'
love this team as much as you do, but I think you're really overrating JV at this stage of his career.
The truth is, there's a lot of reasons why the Raptors lost versus the Nets, that have little to do with coaching. You're just so biased you just blame the coach because it's easier than admitting the Nets were a terrible match-up.

Kevin Durant is one of the few exceptions and it's even a detriment to him.
You can't be great unless you're cocky. It doesn't mean they have to be A-holes like Terrell Owens or Michael Jordan but you need to have that belief in you that you're better, and you need to have it in you enough to throw it in your opponents face from time to time.
The humble, courteous champion is a beautiful thought, but it's not realistic for most people. If you don't think you're better than others usually you end up losing to them long before you crack the highest level.
Do or die, I take someone like Dwyane Wade over someone like Durant any day of the week.

You can be confident in knowing that you are better that others at a certain thing, without being Cocky about it.
As for your bit about DWade over Durant ... I say ... HUH?! Do you mean DWade circa 2008? Cuz then maybe, though not likely, I'd agree. But otherwise ... nah.
