  • How can you win when the whistle literally doesn't blow? (heartbreaking)

Bargnani's buzzer beater came up literally 12 feet short of the rim. Are ref's going to play that stupid to think 6'6 Kidd-Gilchrist blocked his shot, I could see contact from every angle they showed. You can not win a basketball game when the other team is allowed to cheat for the last couple minutes. Why was there no free throw attempt? Because the buzzer went on the road? Would LeBron EVER get that treatment? How is that fair?

Not to mention, DeRozan was hacked all game long, especially 3 times in the final sequence.

Like somebody mentioned earlier, the Raptors have averaged 6 free throws less a game all season, 8 less today, that is despite an emphasis on driving the ball and getting into the paint from many players all season.

This is really becoming a joke and I'm starting to wonder if there is some sort of "reason" for it. Either way, we might as well hope to finish in the bottom 3 and get a sick pick, because we're not going to win much this year by the looks of things.

Yeah, they were really liberal with the whistle earlier on. Then they swallowed and won it for the Home crowd.

what if as home team fans everyone brings a whistle and blows it when they see a foul so the refs can get some help

We should totally do that. And have a chant that goes "fuck the refs!"

            Two things:

            1. As one of my former coaches told me: Never leave the game in the hands of the refs. Once you start doing that, you've already lost.

            2. Free Throw Attempts Per Game:

            DeMar DeRozan - 5.8
            Kyle Lowry - 5.2
            LeBron James - 5.4
            Chris Paul - 4.9
            Dwayne Wade - 4.3

Even Andrea averages more FTs per game than guys like Joe Johnson, Pau Gasol and Al Jefferson. The Raps should stop complaining and start hitting their freebies.

The thing about the last couple seconds of the possession is that the ref usually won't give the away team a call in the last possession of a close game especially when the home team is winning (even if there should have been a call). This is usually to please the home crowd since they don't want the game to be decided by free-throws. The only real exception would be if it was some seriously known superstar that the NBA is known to favor more (LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Paul, etc...). This is Bargnani we're talking about. No way he's getting that call at the end of the game especially if it decides who wins and loses the game...

You can blame the refs all you want but just like in MMA fighting, if you let the decision come down to the judges and not finish the guy off yourself, you are asking for it.

The Raptors time and time again had a chance to run with the lead but due to their stupid bone headed mistakes (stupid foul, stupid pass, stupid shot, stupid giveaway, bad defence) they are their own worse enemy.

i think it is different then this. this comparison would be if the ref allowed a low blow or a finger poke to go unwarned or unpenalised. fouling is a rule "you are not allowed to do it" if you do it there are free throws. it shouldn't matter who is fouling, who is being fouled and what negative impact it has on the home team fans' feelings. you can't throw away rules when you want to and enforce them when you want to.

if at the end of a ufc fight if one guy had 3 low blows go unpunished dana would be tearing his head off to everyone in the press conference

And this is OK? It's absolutely ludicrous that this is just "accepted"

Exactly! I'm sick of people saying refs didn't cost us the game, the raps shouldn't let refs decide the game, Well bullshit, it was pretty clear the refs decided the game. It was a foul and they didn't call it, simple as that. Rules are there to be followed. Refs shouldn't enforce or not enforce them when it's convenient to do so. This is fucking ridiculous.

If the foul is there (which anyone with working eyeballs could see it was) then call it.

Raptors couldn't execute, but if refs had called some, we would've won, but margin would've been tiny.

If Raptors executed, not to mention calls coming our way, we're looking at a possible double-digit deficit for Charlotte. I mean, at the end of the day, Toronto didn't make those winning plays, but the refs didn't let us make them as well.

Refs are to blame for those terrible non-calls late, but Toronto should not have been that close to start relying on the whistle. Wins come from 4 great quarters of basketball, not 2 great ones, an average one, and an invisible one. You can't win being inconsistent, and that goes to players (Bargnani, Calderon's D), and coaches (rotations, accountability, WINNING PLAYS.)

Blame the refs all you want, yes they made some terrible calls, but Toronto should not have lost this game tonight, it's all on them. It's easy to argue, "well, the referees are to make the game fair," but basketball is basketball, referees aren't playing.
