Embiid is number one in my books though Wiggins is doing fine. Parker is struggling of late. The defenses have adjusted to his game.

Based on the Raps current trend, MSU Adreian Payne is an option if the team moves Hansbrough and/or Patterson. Dario Saric is another interesting option.

Yeah, it's hard talking about drafting in the 18-22 range, because not only is it less sexy, but there's far less concensus about how to rank players at that point, and it's far more difficult at this point to say who will be available and who will opt in or out.
But there's a whole range of questions where we're drafting. 1. Do we still go BPA that low in the draft, or target positions of weakness on the team (1b. and what are our weak positions)? 2. Go high-risk, high-reward; or opt for a guy who's more likely to be solid and unspectacular, as some contending teams tend to do? 3. Draft an international and stash him? 4. What are we willing to package to move up, and how high do you think you need to move to get someone you want? 5. Should the Raptors show any Canadian bias?
Attempting to answer my own questions:
1. I'd only go PBA if there's a clear difference (a very intriguing player falling to the Raptors). And I'm not sure there's any position where we're so deep at that a prospect won't get playing time, except for SG. PF is debatable. I'd like to believe NBADraft.net, which has all of Saric, Vonleh, and Gordon falling to a place where the Raptors could grab him.
1b. Obvious position of need is backup PG (and possibly starting PG), and backup C. If Patterson is part of the long-term plan, then PF isn't an issue right now. SF is probably an area of need, depending on how comfortable you are with DeRozan and Ross as a slightly undersized wing tandem.
2. I could see Ujiri get a skill specialist, like Faried. Roscoe Smith could be this year's Faried and is possibly a late first-rounder. The other specialist skillset I wouldn't mind is a scoring PG off the bench... Hanlan could fit that model.
3. This doesn't seem like a particularly strong class of euros, but I see draft-express has us taken Nurkic, who seems like a draft-and-stash candidate.
4. There's obviously a top tier of about six guys, and then I think there's a second tier that extends down to around 13-15th. If I was trading up, I would want it to be into that second tier. That Sacramento second-rounder might be a useful trade chip for moving up. Something like the 20th, the 37th, plus cash, might be enough to move up to around 15.
5. No, but I follow the Canadian prospects more closely and I can't help wanting some of them on the team. But it's interesting that there are so many Canadian prospects who could go early-second round. All of Powell, Birch, Hanlan, Stuaskas, and Bachynski have been listed between 30th and 45th in at least one mock. Hanlan could even be a first-rounder, and then there's Ennis, who's game I absolutely love, but if he does declare this year, I think the Raptors will need to trade up to at least 15th to get him.Last edited by octothorp; Tue Jan 14, 2014, 04:15 PM.

Some guys that i like that could be available in the 18-22 range:
Tyler Ennis
Kyle Anderson
Dario Saric
Andrew Harrison(i'm a big fan)Mamba Mentality

We are making the playoff and it looks like we will be drafting in the 20th to 30th range, who should we pick, who are available, who are falling. I personally like to see us drafting one of
PG: Semaj Christon, Olivier Hanlan, Russ Smith
SG: James Young, Markel Brown, Thanasis Antetokounmpo
SF: Glenn Robinson III, Dario Saric, Clint Capela
PF: Noah Vonleh, Montrezl Harrell, Isaiah Austin
C: Willie Caulie Stein, Adreian Payne, Dakari Johnson
If we are to address the PG situation, we should go after Semaj Christon, an established point guard who might go Top 10 but let's hope he slips to us, he's a joy to watch.
Most likely we won't draft another SG
As for SF, our backup options are Robinson III if he slips, could turn out to be a decent role player or starter on a bad team, Saric, a Garbojasa or Linas Kleiza clone or better
As for PF, I see 2Pat as our starting PF next year with Amir comes off the bench for either him or Valanciunas so I don't see the Raps drafting a PF but you never know, if the best player is available in Vonleh, I say go after him, he could be a poor man's Chris Bosh
Our backup center need to be addressed either through free agency or draft, we can't simply role with Hansborough since he's a natural PF and Chuck Hayes, a decent 3rd stringer PF/C so we need a good backup C. If Caulie Stein is available, I say get him, if not, Isaiah Austin is an option but we might nab him with the 2nd round pick.
Ofcourse, Masaii could package our draft pick + filler for a better pick + filler who knows.
In Conclusion: Semaj Christon gets the nod and let's hope we get him with the 19th or 20th pick while second round pick goes to Isaiah Austin and late second pick goes to Thanasis Andetoukompo, the brother of Giannis "Freak" Andetoukompo of the Milwaukee Bucks, could be a chip in luring him when Giannis become a free agent

If the Raptors could get Ennis in the 20-range, that is a serious win for them. I think he will be a very productive player who could eventually start in the league. Can't help but view that as another Faried type pick for Ujiri if he somehow got Ennis there.

Tyler Ennis
Deandre Kane

Are my PGs not sure what works at center yet. Lots of power forwards, but no Centers other than Embiid have caught my eye. Not too many SFs other than the guys in the lottery jump out at me as well.

If Ennis does declare, that's someone Masai needs to trade a few spots up for, part with our 2nd or something, that guy can ball and he can win games. Plus being Canadian doesn't hurt, I've been really disappointed with Vasquez and having him as a backup and maybe one day a starter would be great
