  • MGM Toronto - Proposed Casino Project.

Not sure if you guys have been following this at all, but MGM has some pretty incredible proposals to re-do the Exhibition grounds, at no cost to Torontonians. And would create 10,000 jobs.

Apparently there is quite a bit of back-lash against this happening ... what do you guys think?
I'm actually all for this .. I think it would be great for the city.

I honestly don't know if it's the best thing for Toronto. I also think it might have a minor impact on communities outside Toronto that depend a lot more on gambling for income. The thing is, I like the idea in some ways, but I hate the idea of putting it in such a central spot like the Ex, which for some reason I associate with family style entertainment.

I would much rather see any Casino, if it had to be in the downtown area, somewhere a bit East in the Cherry street area. I feel like everything that's ever been done at the docks sucks balls. And it's still central, and right by the Distillery district, which is more adult oriented. I don't know what's going on there right now, if it's not viable for some reason, but I'd rather put a Casino-centred entertainment district there.

i'm very opposed to the idea of having a casino in Toronto.

I understand the arguments for it. new jobs, increase in tax revenue, increase in tourism.. and can't justifiably argue against any of that..

but i once dropped over two grand in one night in vegas..

and the only reason i haven't done that again since... is because i haven't gone back to vegas..

i dont want that being a short cab ride away from me.

Toronto looks like such a beautiful place. Man, I hope to travel (hopefully live and work) there someday after high-school and college.

Toronto is an awesome place.. a little biased, as it's my city... but i've seen enough of the world to be able to appreciate what it is..

my advice (and mind you, it's coming from ME... so, ya... )... after college, work for a bit... bank as much coin as you can... and travel the world.. even if its something as simple as picking up Lonely Planet's guide to Asia or Europe or something... and spending a few months travelling between poor countries where you can stretch out your dollars the furthest..

it gives you a whole different perspective on life in general..

i love Toronto... but i loved it even more when i came back to it with even more world experience

Hmmmm. Interesting. I will definitely take a note, and keep that all in mind Heinz. Thank you brother.

P.S I would definitely spend a good dollar for... #BandzAMakeHerDance

It's another sign of governments desparate for cash.
